Leer HF650M Quad-Fold Tonneau Cover - Install and First Impressions

How is this holding up for ya'll? I just ordered one! Can I close the tailgate while it is in the flat position? I have seen some other covers required you to fold it back once, close the tailgate, fold it back flat, and then push it down to secure. Thanks!

I would maybe suggest to him reaching out via e-mail to some of these resellers. I've got my heart set on a Lomax. Certain resellers undercut the manufacturer's sale price by a couple hundred dollars (on Lomax), if you e-mail them, plus they don't charge sales tax out of state. I wonder what their price might be on this Leer? The nice thing with Amazon though is you get 30 days to send it back if you don't like it, but you are going to pay sales tax.

It fits great. I did have to adjust, micro adjust, the squareness as one side in the back didn’t securely latch. Took less than 5 minutes.

The tailgate opens and closes regardless of where the tonneau is positioned.

I would buy it again, even at the $1,150 price. To me it’s a complete no brainer at $650.

My truck was delivered last week, and I jumped at this on Amazon for a steal. What did you use the roll of sealant for, anywhere in particular as I don't see it in any instructions.

I don’t recall any sealer strip coming.

Truck Bed Solutions sent, free, a roll of stick on gasket which I never used.

I do get a bit of water in heavy heavy rain, and car wash. But not enough that I worry. I got a tonneau primarily for security of cargo.

I am going to cut a small piece of it and close the hole created by the two plastic pieces about a foot behind the cab and the channel that clamps on. Maybe about an inch in the corners of bed near cab to taper the surface from the top of plastic to top of bed beneath the rear cab glass. So the rubber seal on tonneau can uniformly follow a smooth continuous surface. I may also put a very small "caulking" along the edge of side channel and the OEM plastic to seal off any water that can get past the rubber tonneau seal. The tonneau twin rubber seal design is impressive and should work well. Like anything done the first time there is the possibility that improvements can be made during second install.

I just ordered the hard quad cover for my 25. Thank you for your installation tips. I've never had a bed cover before so I assume that with the cover down and the tailgate shut there's no way to open it for security. I also assume that there's no extra locking mechanism.. just need to open the tailgate to flip open the cover?

The Mav is basically now o our only vehicle (sold off our EV for about what I paid for it) so it will be doing all of our around town stuff, road trips and any truck stuff we need. I figure having the cover in the back will add a lot of utility for us.

I like that the LEER is made in the USA and I also appreciate the quad fold design and 3-year warranty.

Correct no locking mechanism other than a locked tailgate. And if someone wants into the bed, a small pry bar would likely defeat any tonneau latch.

The one thing I’ve yet to make/buy (I’ll make my own) is a divider board. One that fits into the bed wall notches. Makes a short space close to the tailgate that keeps stuff, like grocery bags from sliding.
