At only $649, this is a steal of a deal. You won’t find a nicer tonneau for the money. It is far superior to the Bakflip tri-fold that comes factory from Ford - and now it’s half the price. Wish this deal had been going on when I bought mine back in November!

By the way. Bakflip is another brand, not the genuine Ford tonneau cover.

At $649 USD as you note, I don't think this is a steal by any stretch, it's just more in line with the industry pricing. The BISON tonneau covers are similar, Tri-folding individually locking (perhaps not as good as the Leer) and are $600 Canadian $, translate that into USD , about $430 USD.

1) Bakflip makes the genuine Ford Tonneau Cover for Ford. And this is not an Amazon cover, it is made by Leer and is for sale at the Leer store on Amazon.

2) The Leer cover is superior to the genuine Ford cover manufactured by Bakflip for the following reasons:

A) Quad fold instead of tri-fold making for stronger, lighter, panels

B) More brackets for a tighter, more secure fit

C) No drain tubes

D) No drilling necessary for install

E) Does not cover 3rd brake light when fully opened.

F) Latch system rather than string-pull opening mechanism

G) Equally priced at MSRP. Much better value at current Amazon sale price - which is the entire point of this post.

Unfortunately, the fabled Bison covers aren’t available in the US, so I cannot draw a fair comparison. However, as far as high-quality premium brand covers that ARE available in the United States are concerned, the $649 deal is exceptional. It is less than half the cost of original MSRP and less than half the cost of the genuine Ford cover manufactured by Bakflip, which seems to be its closest competitor.

Just tried the link and it worked fine for me. Still showing as $649. Not sure what to tell you, but $691 still beats the heck out of $1299. If you’ve gone this far, don’t let $42 stop you!

You can also go to Amazon.com and search “Leer HF650M Tonneau Cover.” The first listing is for ChevySilverado/GMC Sierra for $1130, but if you’ll scroll down to the second listing, it is for the Maverick and is listed for $649.

I agree. I believe these are aluminum honeycomb sandwiched between fiberglass panels. They will eventually start retaining water, though they will be better than aluminum honeycomb sandwiched between thin aluminum. Those are easily dinged up. If I’m actually spending $1K+, I want thick, solid sheets of titanium, but I guess solid aluminum will do.

Bakflip does NOT manufacture the Genuine Ford hard folding tonneau cover for the Maverick. It is manufactured by Advantage, a completely different company.
