Hey all,

Last couple of weeks, I've noticed when I really step on the acceleration, the engine makes this faint, hollow kind of wheezing noise. It reminds me of a turbo spooling, which would be fine, except I'm driving a hybrid which doesn't have a turbo.

Anyone else had similar? 45k miles.

Yes, I hear it too and have no idea what it is. We only have 1,800 miles and observed it since day 1. When I first heard it I thought it was the faint sound of a ambulance coming.

I just got mine last week and hear it a lot. It has me checking my mirrors looking for emergency vehicles.

Exactly what I hear as well. I pulled over a couple times after first getting it. This is an excessively noisy motor. Had I observed this during the test drive I may have not picked it. This seems to be a NVH issue that Ford probably could have addressed.

That's what my wife says too! She drives the Maverick as much as I do, and said at first she kept looking in the rearview mirror for emergency vehicles until she realized it was just Maverick noises. To me, it doesn't seem that dramatic, just that Maverick makes a little bit different hybridy noises compared to my Prius v, which had it's own array of hybridy noises (a lot more clicking and clacking of the braking system).

I took my car in for this very noise. Under "torque" at low speeds you can hear it. They put chasis ears on it and swear its normal. The tech report was not specific but it seems to be some version of when the electrical motor disengages and the gas engine engages.

well, it is quiet compared to the front drive unit on the Tesla Model X ... but as an EV owner it is a sound that is instantly recognizable.

My GF has the Tesla and the recognizable motor noise... I hear it in both vehicles. This is a different noise. It's a belt or gear engaging.

I hear a noise but it's the electric motor.
