But, It has been, A Great Ford Ranger replacement.
I should know.. (had three of them).. ;)

All of the "Standard" Equipment, that is common today (and people take for granted).
Would have put my early Rangers into "Lariat" status..

Compared to my early 2000’s sedan, even my stripper XL has spaceship technology. Automatic emergency braking, stability control, traction control, trailer stability, half dozen airbags, MPG in the high 40’s, Ford Pass (not that I use that one), Bluetooth, USB, WiFi, back up camera, tire pressure monitoring, infotainment screen, and a HVAC thermostat.

I think we should celebrate those who acquired the Maverick Poverty Edition....:ROFLMAO:😅😂

Now if there were only a 'ducking emoji' available. Y'all know I'm just teasing. Honestly would have considered an XL... but by golly, if I'm having a car payment again, I'm getting a rear sliding window and sunroof...
You could have gotten those features in a '22 XL, but you would have to add cruise control (yourself) if you wanted it too. What a bargain!

I did.

Maybe not 100% because it was an xl but an EcoBoost as well. My 23 hybrid XLT lux order was likely going to be rolled into a 24 and I was impatient so I bought what I could get ahold of. That was a white xl ecoboost, at the cost of features I really wanted such as heated seats, steering wheel and hybrid. I owned it for 3 months than traded it in since it didn't fill the void of what I wanted and got worse fuel economy than what I signed up for.

Now I'm back after a couple years for an XLT lux pre facelift. There are a couple 24s on the lots around here hoping I snag one soon.

Why Ford put the climate controls, something that gets touches with every drive, on a touch screen in the 2025s, i will never understand. But that turned me off to the 25my

As a work truck though, xl does the job

The climate controls on the 2025 screen are not a big deal. The controls are quick, accesible and very responsive.

You got Wifi? I think I got an apology and a $20 check in the mail.

- Looking poor is a desired feature for some 😉
- What's a car payment?

Lol, if there where just an "X" I would have bought that. All cars break, I just want the least amount of crap to break.

Trust me, I looked... Hard. But what was the point of paying a $5k Dealer Markup in those days. Sunroof was killed on XL in 23.... sliding rear window in 24.. Anyway, I hope most of you understand that my post was typed tongue in cheek..

My post was typed tongue and cheek. Poverty Edition has been a running joke on these forums for a while.

Could have paid cash, but I financed half the truck as a nice piece of land adjacent to mine became available and I really wanted to increase the size of my build site. Those of you who found an early 22 XL EB AWD 4K at MSRP really won out... They were so inexpensive... and if it had the sunroof and rear slider too.... Wow... I looked for a very long time... no dice at MSRP.

Yeah, I rocked the stripper Nissan Frontier XE 2WD 5spd Manual for many years. I really appreciate my Maverick having all of that crap that breaks... and was willing to pay for it. 😉

I’ll admit it, to me some of us Lariat guys sound like stuck up snobs.
For 2.37 seconds I considered an XL I was sitting in.
Then I sat in my Lariat, and thought, ‘The wife will never let me get this one.

I suddenly remembered who wears the pants in the family then I begged the sales lady to talk to my wife and get her to let me have this Lariat.

She pulled it off.
The Hot Pepper Red color and the fact it was parked inside on the show room under excellent lighting was a factor I think.

I would have been fine with the XL but very happy with my Lariat.

The XL IMHO is the far better choice for the tinkering crowd. I’m just not that.
