Before I bought my hybrid Maverick, I remember stories about people losing power on the highway at high speeds. This finally happened to my wife yesterday at 10,000 miles. On the highway, her accelerator stopped working, so she had to coast to a stop. She had to get my son to a game so she shut the power off and tried to keep going. She could go for five minutes and then it she would lose acceleration again. She slowly made her way to the game and called Ford road side assistance. They said it would be four hours for a tow. She instead limped to the nearest dealer with acceleration loss every five minutes. We are waiting to see what they say on Monday. That is pretty terrible for Road Side assistance.
In my Ford app I see the service "The powertrain control system has detected a fault in the high voltage System Coolant Pump. Air may be present in the cooling system."
Hopefully, this is a once-off problem. But I am not confident given all the problems I have heard of on here.
