Brake lights only come on with truly designed and implemented one-pedal driving in EV's. My Chevy Bolt did via deceleration sensor. No hybrids are known to do this.

Driving (and slowing) with the L button is not advisable. You are slowing briskly without brake lamps being activated.

Interesting.. a bit more substantial than many of us thought.
I doubt anyone is installing that rear section, there repairing what's there and fabricating sections as needed out of sheet metal, it's not right but it's being done every day.

Must be hidden, door gap looks good and looks like it missed rear frame

It was. They provided me with a very detailed estimate. I can't remember it all but I know the unibody was involved.

No agenda. No conspiracy theory. No politics. Just concern about automobile and light truck safety and the agencies and organizations that encompass these concerns and have some influence and oversite.

I'm referring to a much broader spectrum - distracted driving is just one area.

When I think of all of those decades downshifting my sports cars, pickups, and bikes, without displaying brake lights, before finally braking to come to a stop.
Boy, was I lucky!

I propose that Mavericks aren't more prone to rear end crashes, and instead that the proliferation of smart phones has increased the occurrence of distracted driving that frequently causes these crashes.
Yes, I AM Old School....
If YOU are Driving a Vehicle... Then DRIVE the Vehicle..
If YOU want to be on YOUR (Dumb) Phone... Then TAKE A BUS... 😒

Good thing, I AM NOT a Politician... I would mandate that ALL phone features, be disabled by sitting in the vehicle. Except for taking "Phone Calls" by Hands-off means Only...

On the plus side, we're seeing automatic safety tech become more and more common that can both make an alert to wake up the dummy behind the wheel, and if no action apply emergency braking force itself. Add in adaptive cruise control with stop/go and lane centering, and cars are starting to become idiot proof.

Am a old school guy too, just don't understand why People have to hold their phone, I get pissed every time I see someone on a phone, every vehicle now has HANDS free, and if it doesn't rental/loaner you have a speaker option on your phone, why must you hold it to your ear. I had a women walk out in front me on a busy main road looking down on her phone had to slam on my brakes, she just walked out not even attempting to look if anyone was coming, what she do gives me the finger and keeps talking and walking, I wanted to run her over!!
