I am concerned that some of the information they reported on the new Maverick is not correct. They said that the turbo engine gets 23 mpg overall. They also said the turbo tends to lug along at low revs sending vibrations into the cabin. My truck has averaged 29.4 mpg over the last 11 months with the same engine they are talking about. I have not noticed any lugging and vibrations. Could there be that much difference in a 2025 and a 2024? Even the EPA mileage figures are higher than Consumer Reports. They did say the Maverick has a refined ride, and the handling is very secure.

When Consumer Reports reviews a vehicle, they buy it from a local dealer who does not know it's going to CR until the end.

If they report fuel efficiency, it's what they experienced in their mixed driving. If they report issues, unless stated otherwise it's what they experienced in their vehicle.

They have no reason to misrepresent their experience, and every reason to tell the truth that their multiple vehicle testers reported in their log books.

Literally, YMMV.

I get better than 23 overall. More like 26-27.

Yes, the 2.0 will lug down and transmit vibrations into the cab at certain speeds around 40 or so with the RPM's lugging down to around 1200. Fixed most of it with 91 octane gas.

Some like yourself say they have never experienced such a thing. Others, like myself say it is real and it happens. YMMV.

First time I have heard it called a "refined" ride, but it is smooth and rides much better than its price point so that is a win.

The '25 EB does have a redesigned engine, so your experience may not be the same if you have an older EB Maverick.

Well, I love my 2024 and I don’t think the ’25 is very much different so I’m sure I would love it too.
I appreciate your reference to Consumer Reports but honestly….their report doesn’t affect my decision or attitude about what I already own.
I think all models of the Maverick are great values for the what they cost, comparatively speaking. Any one who feels a vibration should just think of it as a free massage while driving. :)

Today downsized from my F-150 to a 2025 XL EcoBoost AWD.
I’m encouraged here by your experiences.
Slightly harsher ride than my 2019 F-150 FWD, but still acceptable to me.
Still on my first tank of gas so we shall see.

What does YMMV mean ?
FWIW my 2024 AWD Eco does not lug at any RPM.
I use 87 octane.

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary.
For clarity, this does not always refer to actual fuel mileage (literally as @oysterville mentioned). It also should be taken as your experience could be somewhat different in reference to other things (like the lugging in this case also).

Consumer Reports accuracy is not great. I’ve subscribed a few times over the years and I have seen many factual errors. As a subscriber, I looked for a way to report errors and I found none.

I’m not currently subscribed, but the most recent that I recall was that on their Maverick review they had the city and highway mileage reversed for the hybrid (showing the higher mileage figure for highway driving and lower for city).
