CR has been junk for years. way too many reports of products basically being gifted or paid for by the manufacturers. questionable testing practices. selective testing of some manufacturers and ignoring others. i'd take any of their 'results' with a big old mountain of salt.

I haven't looked at a CR review in years. The last car review I read from them they rated a car as best based on how many cup holders it had. 🤔
I honestly haven’t looked at CR Reports for decades I used to buy them occasionally when flying on business trips but didn’t realize they were still in print with all the information available on the web from real life experiences - like the postings here I guess they are irrelevant to me

I am concerned that some of the information they reported on the new Maverick is not correct. They said that the turbo engine gets 23 mpg overall. They also said the turbo tends to lug along at low revs sending vibrations into the cabin. My truck has averaged 29.4 mpg over the last 11 months with the same engine they are talking about. I have not noticed any lugging and vibrations. Could there be that much difference in a 2025 and a 2024? Even the EPA mileage figures are higher than Consumer Reports. They did say the Maverick has a refined ride, and the handling is very secure.
Lots of variables concerning mpg.when my wife drives our ecoboost she averages about 28 mpg, mostly hwy, when i drive i average about 31 mpg. She's obviously more aggressive of a driver.but yes 23 mpg seems way to low.

I get the digital and print editions and 100% agree with Consumer Reports. Every year I get a questionnaire to report on the vehicles I own. They are spot on for the 22 Hybrid, good to very good rations but overall reliability much worse than average which I agree with. Probably a dozen recalls or service bulletins and having to recharge the battery every three days is pretty poor. Overall it was one of their top ten new vehicle recommendations. They have been spot on with my two BMW’s an X3 and 2 series.

Thoughts on reviews, CR or otherwise:
All reviews are biased based on the reviewers past experiences, expectations, location, driving style etc. No review can test every possible driving style, on every road.
Never base a big decision on a single review. Gather perspectives from multiple sources. In the case of vehicles, take test drive(s) and determine if the vehicle meets personal expectations. If anyone bases their decision on a single source, there is a good chance they will be disappointed.

CR's annual testing budget runs well over $30 million, funded mostly by 6 million members who pay $30 to $59 a year to subscribe to the magazine or website. CR accepts no freebies from manufacturers; they buy every product they evaluate, to avoid any conflict of interest.

2024 Lariat EB here... And yes... It lugs at lower speeds, especially if I am using ECO.... (which I do most of the time). Can't help on mileage numbers as I have snows on 17's (vs 18) and the mileage is not registering correctly. When I bought the tires, tire sales guy said if I was running at 65 on speedometer, I would actually be going 64.75 with these tires (close enough). However in actuality at 70 on speedometer, GPS says I am doing 67.

Obviously there are many people who don't believe non bias reporting and resort to calling CR names. Facts are facts wether or not it's what you want to believe. Their testing is rigorous not just on flat ground. Let's try to keep hate out of disagreement! FORD is number ONE for recalls in the last few years and quality is an issue for sure. If your happy fine but knowledge is better than feelings.

If you're a car guy and want to cringe, and I mean absolutely cringe, spend 5 minutes of pain trying to listen to the CR clowns talk about cars in their weekly show. I made that mistake, and after 5 minutes I had to let loose a Klingon death scream to vent.

CR has a highly effective narrative that they successfully market to unwary sheep. Their methods are scientifically unsound from the word "go", partly because they use a self-selecting sample group. Their product "testing" is shallow, incomplete, unsound, and pretty much meaningless. You're as likely to buy a quality product using a dartboard.

CR is also a great example of the Stockholm Syndrome, where their indoctrinated victims defend them to the death.

If you are expecting any good news about big three products from Consumer Reports, it's probably a misprint. I know of no one getting 23 mpg on any Maverick unless they've installed a big block V8.

I Stopped subscribing to CR many years ago. I found that their conclusions were radically different than my real life experiences. For example, If they said a product that I used was bad, and low rated, I found it an awesome product. They were always wrong. For many years, A foreign car was rated best, American cars were junk. Just ignore it.
