FYI; I know that some members have no faith in these numbers; but to argue one would have to believe that CR members that provided info were statically different from the population of car owners in general. Here are the interesting numbers: (lower numbers are predicted less reliable)

2.0 Maverick 73
2.5 Maverick 69

Santa Cruz: 37
Ranger 47
Ridgeline 50
Tacoma 71

My CX-5 was rated 71 (3rd in class)
While I do pay attention to CRs recommendations, I tend to take their ratings on new vehicles (especially new models) with a grain of salt. I have owned many GM products over the years, most of them new models or new refresh of an existing model. CR has consistently pegged them as not reliable in the first year or two, neutral in the 3-4 year range, and at least good in subsequent years. They seem to have a vendetta against GM. Of all the GM products I have owned, I have only had minor issues, if any.

1989 S10 pickup that is still running and has been abused for 33 years. Currently has around 200,000 miles on it and still runs great. Only issue is the A/C has developed a leak that now is too fast to recharge.

1991 Camero RS 5.3L (bought used) - No issues other than the pineapple dust on Oahu sandblasting the paint off the roof.

1996 Tahoe 4WD LS - No issues for the 3 years I owned it.

1999 Venture van - Mother put 119,000 miles on it, Drove into the ground by teenagers with another 20,000 miles before the head gaskets blew late 2018. Only other issues were replacing the alternator once and the water pump once.

1999 Silverado 4WD LS - No issues

2002 Tahoe LS AWD - Only issue it had was one of the taillight circuit boards went belly up. Easy fix.

2006 Trailblazer LS AWD - Faulty seat belt assembly and faulty fuel guage sensor (both under warranty), and replaced driver side window switch assembly (recall). Only other issue was an oil-pressure switch failed 2012. I owned this one for 13 years.

2018 Silverado LT AWD - No issues.

I now have a 2021 Toyota Sienna hybrid in addition to the 2022 Maverick hybrid. I didn't leave GM due to bad products, but rather they no longer build any vehicle I'm interested in or at least interested in paying the price for. The Sienna has been trouble free (Mechanically at least. There is an open issue with the wifi hotspot not turning on - That's been elevated to Toyota Technology and is scheduled to be worked on the 19th - a minor inconvience). I hope the Maverick is as trouble free as all the GM products were. Mine was built after all the current recall issues, so fingers crossed.

My mentality going into this was ford has a very successful track record of making reliable trucks, and reliable hybrids. This was Hyundai's first time making a pickup for the N. American market. Ford used proven powertrains, the 2.5 hybrid especially. Hyundai went wild and threw a dct and self-leveling suspension into their product. Predicted the issues with the maverick would be far more mild and quickly resolved than the issues the Hyundai had. Turns out I was right. The biggest issue with the maverick was the dead hybrids, which was resolved very quickly, only impacting trucks built in or before May. By comparison, the Sante Cruz is having transmission failures, CELs, loss of power, electrical issues, suspension issue, DCTs overheating easily, and braking issues to name a few. The tailgate also fell off in TFL's vid.

Yup. There are thounds of Hyundai owners waiting for new engines for various MY2018-2020 vehicles due to production faults. To think that happened before the supply chain went crazy and the quality of parts in general started to drop. I can only imagine how many SC owners will be dealing with stuff like that in 3-4 years.
Meanwhile our 2017 explorer is almost 7 years old and has never had a part break. Ford's are unreliable my ass.

Agreed. I've had many Fords over the years, and all were outstanding. The latest was a '99 Escort that I drove for 22 years and almost 200K miles. It was certainly nothing special to drive, but exceptionally reliable. Just routine maintenance and a fuel pump at 120K. Never let me down.

Maybe so, but Ford elected not to recall the vehicles built prior to May, even for inspection/evaluation. Mine died last week and still not at the dealer thanks to Ford Roadside Assistance (or lack of).
I thought I may have dodged the bullet with this issue with >18,000 miles on it since March. The nagging thought for all of the pre-May builds should be, when? rather than if.
A problem this debilitating is problematic in cold weather and Ford should have done more than issue a "TSB for affected customers".

Ford invented the eCVT used in the Mav and Priuses. This was quite a while ago.

Not sure where you get your information from but this is completely false. Toyota was first to bring the eCVT to market in the 90s and while Ford did "independently" develop (AKA copied) an eCVT system in the early 2000s Ford pays Toyota licensing fees for use of some of their patents on the eCVT.

My understanding has been that both Ford and Toyota independently developed and/or advanced some of this technology and at some point agreed to collaborate, including patent swaps as each had something essential to the end result.

Lots of stuff out there, here is one Toyota press release from 2011:
