Finally got around to doing this the right way. I tried the Mabbet revised version with the smoked lenses, and wasn't a huge fan they just look too plain and stick out too far on the fender compared to OEM.

So I used my own OEM XLT fender inserts and painted them to match. Now the only Chrome left is the headlights and tail lights bowls. I used a small 5/8" round amber LED for the blinker and a frosted lens cover. I ordered the turn signal adapter harness from custom Auto works store for $50, way overpriced but it was so much easier than doing it myself for the harness.

I got the LEDs as well as the wiring to extend to the OEM blinker from super bright LEDs.com here in St Louis Missouri. I already had the paint so that was no extra cost all in all the mod probably cost me about 85.00, Plus my time for painting. If anybody needs part numbers for LEDs are the blinker harness adapter let me know.

These are much brighter than the Mabetts with their smoked lens and easier to see in the daylight as well. Really happy with the way they turned out.

Those look really good 👍 I also made my own using the OEM side marker. I got a 10 pack of Amber LED lights from Amazon for $10.00 and I just wired them myself. They function as a turn signal and when you hit the lock/unlock button on my key fob they flash. I also painted the center portion of the marker. Yours look a little more time consuming than mine but you did a excellent job. Much cheaper and better looking than the alternative 😜

Those are the best looking ones I've seen! What holds the lens to the housing? I see some drilled holes in the housing. Did you drill and tap holes in the lens for some screws? Also, how do you keep the space behind the lens from filling with water?

Very nice Job. What exactly is Tessa tape? When I worked for a machine tool manufacturer we would wrap the 3 phase motor connections with rubber and then cloth tape.
Tape for wrapping wires, several types available.
Tesa 51608 Black Fuzzy Fleece Interior Wire Loom Harness Tape
Tesa 51036 High-Performance PET Cloth Automotive Wire Harness Tape

I can dimly remember using several types of tape on 4160V shielded cable stress cones to motor connections.
3M linerless rubber splicing tape, varnished cambric tape, duct seal, maybe 3M 88 or 33+

Cloth tape for wiring harnesses, yes. My one buddy always calls it Tessa tape so it got me in the habit.

I started to use only 3M tape, but I was afraid that wouldn't hold for the long-term. So I used four small half inch long screws holding the lens on, probably closer to 3/8 in length. Also I drilled a small 1/8 in hole in the very bottom of each lens that will allow water to flow out. Either way shouldn't be a problem as the LEDs are IP68 waterproof rated.

Sadly I'm a perfectionist. If there's something I can do to make it look a little nicer it drives me nuts until I get it looking just right.

These also flash when you unlock/lock the doors, with the rest of the exterior lights.

Yours look good as well you just need the colored lenses to hide the LED for a more finished look.

Look great. Way better than the Mabett and Maxzina options. I've been considering buying a second set of badges for this.
