I have tonneau cover trifold setup. Asking for more of a seal between the cover and the truck liner and the tailgate too to seal out water.

Not possible. The best you'll ever do is maybe 90%.

Yes, a combo of weather stripping and a tube of silicone sealant can solve any problem. Probably still never 100%, but silicone can be squeezed into any gap you find after the cover is installed. Or you could even partially remove your tonneau cover and put a bead down between the cover and side rails, etc... To really minimize water intrusion. Should be removable in the future if you go with a 100% silicone sealant (no added adhesive or glue). I would go with a clear as well, since colorant could in theory stain or bleed over time.

This is the one I would go with. Very weather hardy and flexible for the tiny flexes you are going to get when driving.

Has that been a problem for you? I have a trifold and it seals away 95% + of water. What brand tonneau do you have?

I have the Weathertech With my factory spray in liner. Does a decent job with the leakage. One thing I don’t like about it is you can’t fold up the last third. If you need that space you need to remove the top altogether.

I went with weathertech because of the weight it can hold. Living in New Englan you have to be concerned about snow sitting on it.

I also have the weather strip on the tailgate. I used Fordpass points and the dealer installed it at delivery.

One of the guys that works at Real Truck did a video a while back he has a Maverick he shows places in the black trim around the top of the bed where water gets in, I have my bed seal pretty good but from 50 years of owning pickups covers are going to leak somewhat, even the most expensive ones, mostly in car washes and very heavy rain, I don't think there is any cover that guarantee's there leak proof no company is that stupid. There are steps you can take to make it Maybe 90%. I keep my stuff in plastic 10/15$ tubs from Home Depot just to be safe. I think the people that make the covers for the Maverick could of made soft covers 1/2 to 3/4 longer and it would help a lot theres plenty of room, I don't know why they didn't, maybe someone can tell me.

I would be careful about the seal that goes across the bottom of the bed. If water does get in, make sure it won't stop it from draining. I had a GMC Step-side with a vinyl cover with a 1/4" gap on each side at the front where it leaked a small amount. An Avalanche which leaked a small amount in heavy rain or a car wash. An F-150 with no cover that leaked at the rear window and front driver's door. Now a Maverick with a tri-fold that leaks. Also have had SUVs with moon roofs that leak if the drain hoses get clogged. Conclusion - nothing is water proof. You can only hope for the best and plan for the worst.

I have the Weathertech also, and it does a very good job of sealing, is low profile and doesn't even require gutters and drains like many trifolds do.

The Weathertech tri-fold is manufactured by Lomax, and they have a higher-end version of the same tonneau called "Stance" that does fold up, out of the way against the back of the cab. Se the link below.

DAP makes a product called "Seal and Peel". You can install it to seal a gap/leak and peel it off later if you no longer need it. I've used it to seal a leak on a rear quarter panel window on a 65 Falcon station wagon and it works perfectly.

I’ve been able to seal out 99%. Two biggest issues are:

1) the recessed groove/seam in the plastic molding atop the bed sides about 4 to 6 inches behind the rear window. Water is channeled into the bed under the tonneau. I sealed both sides with a dab of clear bathroom caulk under the tonneau “rails”.

2) the tri-fold tonneau rails discharge water to the rear into the tailgate cavity. However the Maverick tailgate “bump stop” design is in the way. The water hits it and splatters/runs back into the bed. I attached a rubber hose to both sides to bring it further back a couple inches to clear the bumper.

now, almost bone dry in there no matter how bad the rain and storm.

Is your tonneau the geneuine Ford hard folding. If you have mounted it properly it seals completely on all sides. If it is that cover, you need to shift it to the rear until it seals against the tailgate. I keep hearing others say theiur leaks there. If you adjust it there it seals at the front, the rear and both sizes. We get zero water in the bed. Can't answer if you have a different brand cover.
