My tonneau seals out about 95%, I need to add some additional sealing to it.

The tail gate used to allow a good amount of water and dust in. I think a bit of a vacuum forms there when driving. I bought some 3M silicone flat weather stripping on Amazon for like $9. I didn't want to fork over $30+ for a specific tailgate kit (glorified weather stripping).

This worked very well. Placed on the tailgate and bed side for double seal.

Do you have any pictures of how you mounted your weather stripping on your tailgate.

I added the above. I had to save and then switch browsers, come back and edit the post. Upload wasn't behaving well with brave browser.

This was what I used. Tons of similar options out there.

I think I may find an adhesive channel style weather strip and use that next to catch and drips my tonneau seal misses. Run the channels out to a drain like the more $$$ covers do.

Thank you for the fast reply and the pictures. 👍

If you took the pictures with your phone you can instantly post them to this site.
Without having to download anything. It saved a whole lot of time.
I would have to shorten up the weather stripping a little bit to accommodate my slide-out tray

Took me 7 minutes to take the picture and make this post.
All done on my old phone, that has no phone service. I just use it as a handheld computer, camera, video, voice recorder, handy flashlight and even a quick convenient bubble level. All that fits in my shirt pocket.

Before the drones start. No I'm not building a house with it.

That's what I did. I told the pics and intended to load them with my first post. But brave browser on my phone craps out trying to to upload 90% of the time. I had to log in to the forum via chrome and edit/add the photos.

Hence the save without pics then adding them a few minutes later.

If you look above I also edited my post and added the picture I took.
I no longer own a PC, laptop or tablet. My phone is always had better newer browsers than the PCS I ever owned.

Ugh! I see on Amazon they sell a tubing with adhesive. Has anyone used that?

I got something similar with my roll up tonneau cover for the 22 and never installed it, wasn’t sure where to put it since the instructions were non existent. Only I issues I’m having now is with the automatic car wash with water getting into the bed at the back. I’m thinking just putting the strips on the sides and not bottom. Not sure if it will stick to the spray in bed liner on the bottom. Anyone that has installed one of these, feel free to offer some advice.

I’ve been able to seal out 99%. Two biggest issues are:

1) the recessed groove/seam in the plastic molding atop the bed sides about 4 to 6 inches behind the rear window. Water is channeled into the bed under the tonneau. I sealed both sides with a dab of clear bathroom caulk under the tonneau “rails”.

2) the tri-fold tonneau rails discharge water to the rear into the tailgate cavity. However the Maverick tailgate “bump stop” design is in the way. The water hits it and splatters/runs back into the bed. I attached a rubber hose to both sides to bring it further back a couple inches to clear the bumper.

now, almost bone dry in there no matter how bad the rain and storm.
Can you pls post a pic of how you did the rubber hose? thanks

This is just one of many tailgate seal videos.

I'm gonna give something like this a shot, the single bubble one I got with my rollup cover isn't large enough to seal up anything.........did this last night on just the tailgate and I'm happy with it, and got plenty of product to experiment with. Got the hose out and sprayed with a mist and it's doing what I want.

Yeah, the gap is quiet large between the gate and the bed. Applied right this does a decent job. One layer in the lip of the gate and one inside on the bed is pretty effective. I still get some ingress but that happens more at where the tonneau come into play. Highest level tonneau cover don't prevent water ingress, they mitigate it with a drip channel. I may eventually DIY that in combo with my cheap cover.
