This is an excellent video by WeberAuto, on the operation of a DC-DC CONVERTOR ! Bill P
Ford needs to hire that guy to solve their charging issues. I'd love for him to analyze Maverick on his YouTube channel.

Remember, Mavericks are not the only Ford's suffering from poor chanting performance..just more pronounced .

Thanks for embedding the video. I've found the Weber channel very informative on several hybrid-related topics . Interesting that Toyota uses a non-AGM LV battery. I'd guess that doesn't cause problems because 1. the low voltage battery is recharged while HV battery is being recharged using wall current and 2. the charging parameters for the LV battery are set appropriately for the battery type.

I’ve only had 1 deep sleep message since vehicle was gotten in May of 2024.
What bugs me is….. , I took a 20 minute ride today, 12 v battery was at 50%, it was being charged at 2 amps, the DCLVA was providing about 20 amps to power other 12v needs, when It was shut off, battery now at 52%.
Seems that ford’s charging logic is a little suspect, why wouldn’t they choose to get the charge up to at least 70%?!
From what I’ve learned, the 12 v battery charge is only used when the vehicle is OFF! Bill P

1-5-25 Follow up to post #162...see photos 1-4

Photo #1 is after a 20 minute ride, vehicle still on, 12v SOC was 50% at start, 52 after 20 mins.
Note that DCLVA was supplying 12 amps to 12v system, 1 amp of which was charging the 12v battery…… makes no sense, right?!

Photo #2 is after that 20 minute ride, vehicle turned off, 12v SOC at 52%(wow), DCLVA goes to 0 amps, discharge amps are 11 amps from the 12 v battery, but battery voltage is at 12.8v!

Photo #3 is after a start & 5 minutes home, vehicle running, SOC 52%, 1 amp charging, DCLVA supplying 20 amps to power 12v systems.

Photo #4, vehicle turned off, DCLVA to 0 amps, LvbA discharging at 12 amps, battery voltage is at 12.8v, which represents almost 100% charge, no?!

Also, I have the service manual for this vehicle, it’s good for most….., but they have very poor “Theory of Operation” for electronics components……

Being a Navy vet, my comment to ford would be….” You need to get your shit together”, or at least “get it in one bag”. Bill P, good night all…..
Excellent improvement.
Did you press on brakes during the 12A discharge?

Even though that surface charge is giving you that 12.8 V - it's still means it's pretty high, compared to before. (still trying to repair prior Rav4 that has sat way too much now, but got too cold for Noco.

You should be able to get a reading in just ACC mode after getting in and turning everything off you can - no brakes. Maybe not overnight since you don't want to see how a bad a draw down, but as mentioned good 45 min.

But it's helped. That's my plan after my current battery dies, hopefully the new one will test well, and I'll do some charging to help keep it going.
Well, or sell it and get an AGM.

I'm really surprised the SOC is still reading so low though - seems like it should be closer to 60-65% normally seen.
Oh well, if it really thinks that low, then at least you are getting a tad extra time at higher charging rates before it drops to that 0-1 A level.

Annoyance with 50% SOC though, deep sleep should be started then.
But perhaps with voltage that high, the battery saver features aren't kicking in.
Hmmm - lights on after entry, or ability to remote start...

Perhaps Fords logic is related to battery installed age capacity reduction???

Is Ford saying Q2 for the fix now?
Also curious of the answer here.

Seems like Q1 is not going to happen for the “software” fix. Any official word on it being pushed back? Are they still going to release this?

Ford considers Q1 to end 3/31/25 so still have 4 weeks...I get to work at 7am eastern and check each day, once I get here and check PTS for updates - which I do first thing each morning...

Took my '22 to the dealer to get an oil change, mentioned the repeated battery saver messages, and presented the service advisor the "SSM 53087 2022-2024 Maverick - FHEV - Intermittent 12V Battery Drain When The Ignition is Turned Off" document.

Battery failed test and they replaced under warranty.

Here's the note from my receipt. Hope it helps some of you get yours replaced too.

Ford Maverick FINALLY!! An upcoming 12v battery fix for hybrids!!! IMG_0545

This is what a good dealer should be and has been doing. Some people here have gone through this process several times. At other not so good dealers, they don’t do this unless forced to. This is not the ‘fix’.

This was done to my 22 in it's 34th month of ownership. The new replacement was the same part number but was the MAX version with 470 AH. Still needs the noco maintainer every few weeks.

Well, no big surprise here...

SSM 53648 2022-2025 Maverick - FHEV - Intermittent 12V Battery Drain When The Ignition Is Turned Off - Built On Or Before 17-Feb-2025
Some 2022-2025 Maverick vehicles equipped with 2.5L full hybrid electric vehicle (FHEV) powertrain and built on or before 17-Feb-2025 may experience an intermittent 12V battery drain condition when the ignition is turned off. If the 12V battery drains, perform a 12V power reset to the vehicle by disconnecting the 12V battery negative cable for 5 minutes. Fully charge the 12V battery and use the Rotunda GRX-3590 or DCA-8000 tester to determine if replacement is needed. If replacement is needed, fully charge the new battery and perform a battery monitor sensor (BMS) reset. Engineering is currently working on a software solution for this condition that is expected in the second quarter of 2025. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.
BUT, anyone with a Maverick built before 2/17/2025, will need the update, even 2025s....Hmmmmmmm.....

This battery mess has gotten so ridiculous it’s almost gotten comical. It’s been an issue since MY22 and still going in MY25. Way to go Ford software engineers
