Some online "experts" have suggested that it is likely that the BMS stops charging the 12v battery in the hybrid when it reaches 80%. Does anyone know if this is the case? Also I have heard the Ford is going to do a computer update in the 1st quarter of this year to address hybrid 12v battery "issues". Are they related ? Could limiting the charge in the 12v battery have adverse impacts on the battery? Any input on this issue would be appreciated.

Are you looking for a second opinion from online experts because you don't trust online experts?

No I am looking for the truth., not someone guess of what is likely. And an expert is a former drip a long way from home.

Really, it stops charging at 60% ? That can't be good.
Dealer says "it's fine".

Dealer says "it's a 12 volt battery and yours is reading 12.1 so it's doing great".

Dealer says "it starts every day right? What more do you want?"

I want it to last more than 16 months, like mine did.

At 34 months I had my 2022 hybrids OEM 12V replaced under warranty for a bad cell. I did use a noco g5 after it was about 14 months old. I have another 2022 hybrid that's 27 months old. I only have 3100 miles on it and last November I put my noco 5g on it about a week before I went out of town for almost 3 weeks. So it had plenty of time for the noco to work on sulfate, etc. started driving it full time because the first one was hit and had to go to body shop. Have not had noco on the one I'm driving now since Jan 5th 2025. Did not start it for 4 days and dome light did not come on but it started and i drove it about 42 miles next am battery was 14.6v. So my battery appears to be still ok. Until Ford fixes their charging parameters or whatever I will just try to put my noco 5g on the battery for a week or so every 4-6 months. Maybe it will also get a warranty replacement at 34-35 month check.

That's not necessarily the charging system's fault. When I was running the stock battery (even with it set for Flooded 100% charge target) I could charge it off an external charger and it'd crash down to low 12 volt in a matter of minutes. After I replaced it I tried similar outside of the truck. My electronic load tester rated it good, but putting a simple light bulb as load and it still dropped rapidly. The OE batteries just can't handle even small loads without shedding voltage.

Ask your dealer, they never make up shit and know everything. :’P
No seriously they would most likely know.

My 2024 Eco has the Ford AGM battery. Mine holds up just fine even after two weeks of sitting in below 20F weather un touched.

Therein lies the problem. It's the charging circuit that is killing the 12v battery in a hybrid because of the way the "engineers" designed the way it recharges that battery. It never fully recharges the battery. Do a little research and you will find that if you do not rapidly fully recharge a lead-acid battery (be it a flooded or AGM type) it will become sulfated. Ince sulfated, it is essentially destroyed and will be incapable of providing sufficient current to the loads laced on it and the voltage will rapidly drop. You described exactly this problem.
