I’m with you, there are so many options to look at, I felt the ceramic had to be first just because it is a clean as it will get. You are right the tailgate lettering would be fist since the ceramic will protect the stickers too. The UV lighting sounds like a nice idea. I didn’t feel it was too difficult to get the correct coverage with the cross hatch system. I agree the spay doesn’t last long, that was my fist adventure. I really know very little of all the ceramics out there. I just know my three days time is costly that i wanted to get the best I could find.

Im stuck in the plan of lifting and bigger tires or leave completely stock. Most likely a bed cover Next.

window tint was second on my list
@Rodeoman74
Those are the exact things that make me unsure what to do first. I want to detail the truck first while as you say it is (hopefully) perfect. But then I come up with other things that I need to do first that way they get ceramic as well.

The bad part about it is I am clueless when I'll even get my truck. My hybrid hasn't been scheduled for build yet. It will be dead of winter most likely and a little difficult to detail the truck. Yeah, I know, I'm in Central Florida, what do I know about winter. It's still to damn cold to wash and detail outside in the cold.

So I believe time when I receive it will be the deciding factor.

I really like you gold wheels….what a cool look
Thanks! It should turn out pretty nice, finally got a VIN, just patiently waiting on a build date. Im hopeing the timing works out and my prototype lift springs are done about the same time so I dont have to drive it stock for too long haha.

I'm not sure what to do. There are a few things I want to do but the timing is what concerns me. My first thought is ceramic coat on day one. Then I get to thinking about lettering on tailgate and think that has to be done first. Then I want new wheels, and I think do I do the stock wheels and then the new? Want to either change the Ford grille and tailgate emblems and think I better get them done before coating. So I can't make up my mind yet.

As for UV Light, I have never used it. I was thinking about using it on the Maverick though. I'm going to use the Graphene Ceramic Coating Advanced this time. In my last 6 ceramic efforts I've used their Spray and it lasts a year. So I wanted to go a little better on the Maverick and if I like it, put it on the Lexus in the Spring.
I would ceramic the whole truck first, then worry about everything else. I usually get 2 cars out of one of the graphene bottles, so youll have plenty of extra to do the new wheels. If you plan on getting new wheels pretty quick, doing the OE wheels would just be a waste of time/product.

You could also just not do the tailgate and wait for the stickers, dont think you would have any adhesion issues due to the ceramic, but you are essentailly filling in all of the micro scratches that helps the adhesive bond.

Good points. That is what I'll most likely do.

Sounds like I'm not the only one trying to put together the list of what to do before ceramic coating!! I do know that the vinyl lettering will go on before ceramic coating. I did vinyl emblems on my Harley's saddlebags and then did ceramic coating (again thanks for all your advice) and it turned out beautiful! I did ceramic on my Sportster last weekend and it looks incredible! The red candy flake has such depth!!

I Had sold my ultra Classic about three years ago, but that would have been such a nice look with ceramic. I did everything in my power to keep the black paint on the tank, fenders, trunk and, bags from polishing swirl marks.

Question, did you ceramic the chrome and the exhaust and motor? I haven’t don’t that, but according to the manf its rated to 1K degrees. That could cut down on detailing time by half. my Wife would say the worst thing about our Harley was I sent more time detailing than riding😂.

add pics of your Sportster, I would really like to admire

I just wonder if I will ever have the opportunity to do this to the 1st Edition, Rapid Red, Hybrid that I ordered last summer.

I wanted to share some photos of my 2022 velocity blue Maverick with newly applied ceramic coat. It might be tough to see the difference the ceramic coat made with these photos, but results are truly incredible. The depth of paint and the glass like smoothness is something that stands out in person and the feel of the paint is special. This is my fourth vehicle with various brands of ceramic coat. I started with the most basic spray that might last a year, next level Avalon King, to finally the Mac daddy of them all System X “Max”. The difference between Avalon king and System X “max“ I would say look and feel they are similar Between the two. The key difference is System X has no restrictions cleaning products, or even cleaning techniques. The biggest difference is the lifetime guarantee ( as long as it is inspected by an authorized installer annuall). This process for the Maverick took roughly 24-28 hours on labor to complete. in my opinion, the best time to do apply this product is when a vehicle is new and no wax has to be removed along with very little paint correction. I basically only needed was little paint polishing and paint decontamination via Claybar, lastly wipe down thoroughly with rubbing alcohol. At this point, each panels has to have product applied in small sections evenly and wiped off. The cure time indicated 5 to 15 seconds but with my low humidity and cool temp’s I found closer to 60 seconds was correct. I find the most difficult part is to have the correct lighting to apply and remove to a perfect finish. I had enough product to do all exterior paint, plastic, wheels, and paint within the interior door jams. I also applied glass treatment on all windows.

I found I still had some paint flaws that are now in bedded for life. Please see attached photos and let me know your thoughts

recommendations for this treatment, you need really good if not great Lighting. This process should not be taken lightly and if any doubt hire a professional.

Is it better to have it done professionally? I only ask because I have no mechanical skills,)

although, it is not as difficult as some might make you believe. There is a good possibility that you might have a few mistakes that you’ll have to live with. In my mind if it was a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or any other high priced vehicle I would have hired it completed. On the Maverick, some of the professional cost is just a lot to invest on a 20-37k vehicle.
I would suggest practice on your friends and family vehicles first to gain some experience. 😂😂😆.
if you determine that you are a protectionist I would go for it. Take you time on one panel at a time starting with panels that a flaw could be hidden or unnoticeable.
if you invest to have complete, I think the only way to go is lifetime guaranteed. No one what’s to have to reinvest every 5 years.

love to know what decision you make.

Thank you, GREAT advice. I’ll get a price then when my Wife tells me absolutely no way, I’ll check out the guys at my VFW Post and see who wants to volunteer;) and 100 percent agree if I splurge I’ll get the lifetime one, this is a present for my Wife but if it’s way too much I’ll consider the $70.00 annual wax job that a local company offers;)

With your experience, what do you use on your tires?

i actually avoided adding anything to my tires. back in the day I would add Armor All. I have stopped, I felt it pulled moisture from the tire Thus reducing the life.

Your right about the investment. I found a shop in Bowling Green Ky that does the Vets built there and other high end cars.

It’s going to be a ‘major’ investment, but I have an appointment 3wks from now.

Having a small bra of PPF and full body ceramic coat along with two font windows tint.

Told my to never ask me how much it cost. 🤣😂

wow, great to hear, make sure they give you a life time warranty. many of the high end product calls for an annual inspection.

i Know I have seen posts that some apply in as little as 4 hours. I don’t see how. I just ceramic coated a set of wheels today and had nearly 6 hours invested. over 90% is cleaning to perfection….

I hope it goes well, I would enjoy hearing what they used and some pic’s of course.

congratulations

How much more difficult is applying a ceramic cost compared to a good hand wash/wax job?
