I'm highly confident someone is already upgrading their MY25 sound, we just need them to take pics and post about it. (y)

I plan on taking some measurements of the B&O this weekend to compare against the base audio system.

Base Audio Measurements

I can pull a door panel and take some pictures of the speaker, I need to do some more research anyway. I plan on a full audio upgrade once the weather warms up.

I did get measurements of the B&O with some help from a friend. I will get a post put together with those results soon.

They did not change the door speaker, I did not pull the front tweeter or the rear.

I'm sure the speakers are all the same. I highly doubt on a refresh that the speaker quality or components have changed.

So, I’m amazed by how many people want to listen to concert level music while driving your Maverick safely with all senses available. Hearing is an important part of driving!
With that in mind, I’m perfectly happy with the sound of my B&O Sound System in my ‘22 Lariat! I don’t need to boom shakkalakka in my seat while driving.

Sometimes it isn't about concert level. For some people, it is more important about the sound being clean, clear, and accurate too the original track, with decent imaging where the sound seems like it's coming from the center of a stage in front of you. It isn't much different than people wanting a full surround sound experience like the theater in their home.

It's more about turning on a good song and actually hearing all the nuances from a scratchy guitar pick, to raspy vocals. Or the way the highs of a guitar solo sound or the low thump from a bass drum when played from a 10" sub. Versus mediocrity at best from what the manufacturer puts in there and charged extra for.

A quick teaser.

Base vs B&O flat EQ with 60/40 front bias fade volume of both at 12.
Orange is B&O, Green is base.
The B&O has a more flat response, and even a slight rise around 850 Hz and obviously the sub 100 Hz gain from the sub woofer.

What does this mean in laymen terms? Much difference?

Listening tells me that the center channel speaker does really well at bringing the imaging higher on the dash, still not eye level, but noticeably higher than the base audio. Looking at near field measurements, measurements directly in front of the speaker, it shows the door speakers have an added low pass crossover which will also help bring the image higher, by reducing the vocal range that the door speakers play.

Overall the sound is much more full, brighter mid range from the center channel, and a fuller bottom end from the subwoofer. It is a noticeable upgrade. If you are an audiophile I am not sure it is enough, but if you only planned on replacing speakers and adding a subwoofer I would say it would probably suit your needs. The base is not overpowering, very well balanced, if you want window shaking bass this will not be enough.

would this compliment the system in lieu of the stock sub?

I would expect that to have more output than the factory sub. I believe people who have these are happy with them but they would know more than me.

If you had to toss a price on the sound difference in your terms of money value.

100-200-400-600 better?

That is a tough question. Someone can easily add a subwoofer as you suggested, this solves a lot of the issues of the base audio setup. I would think this would solve the issue for most people, so in this case $400, but even at that point they are still not equal.

But if you are more concerned about imaging, that is not something you can change by replacing speakers or just simply add another piece of equipment.. It would require heavy modification such as adding a 3 way front end which would entail fabricating custom A pillars or modifying the dash to fit bigger speakers. The result will be far better than the B&O system but at a cost of thousands of dollars even if you can do the fabrication yourself. If you are an audiophile no factory audio setup will ever be good enough.

If you enjoy music, want more realistic sound production, want the reliability of factory equipment, and want other features offered by the Lariot or higher trims, the B&O setup is a great addition. The center speaker is what separates it from the base setup.
