If a Maverick head lamp assembly cost $1K, can you imagine how much money can be made if a wreck is parted out ? I wonder if insurance companies get a decent return by scrapping the vehicle. I am just thinking out loud and have no idea if parting out make any sense.
It's not just the Maverick, but all of todays vehicles that are plastic, aluminum and thin gauge steel or something. Remember when headlights were glass and lasted decades. Now you got plastic that fades cracks and yellows to the point your lights are not effective. Black plastic body panels that fade and warp. Basically throw away mentality. A whole industry of plastic replacement parts created.

As I was driving to work in October, I was in a collision with another vehicle. No one was hurt, thank God! But my Mav was totaled! I would have replaced the Mav with another Mav but decided to get a Ranger. It's not as cool as my AWD Mav, but it's fun too...and a little more space. Maybe one day I'll trade it in for another Maverick.

Naturally the truck bed is bigger on the Ranger and it sits up higher but when I test drove both I found the Mav to be quite similar in front and rear seating space. Mav was a lot less expensive, I'm not interested in towing anything heavy and being a hybrid is WAY better on gas so my choice was easy.

Nice looking Ranger! Glad that you've stuck with the Ford family and most importantly, nobody was hurt. All the best!

There's a lot of selective memory being exhibited by some of the nostalgia posts above about vehicles from mid last century. I drove those cars too, from the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. They were death traps.

They were built like garbage and typically lasted two or three years. In the snow belt, your foot would go through the rusted out floorboards in year three. Crashes turned humans into ground meat. They often exploded on impact. They rode on garbage bias ply tires without steel belts. They wouldn't start in the cold, so you carried spray for the carburetor. They had no ABS, no seat belts, no airbags. They got 8 to 12 mpg, maybe 15 on a good day.

If you think older cars were some kind of golden age, you have a really shitty memory.

Yep, 👍
The old cars had steel dashboards. When you were in an accident. Someone would hose the blood and brains off of the dashboard and it was good go. Maybe replace a windshield here and there.😱

We drove Volkswagens. They would crumple up pretty good in a accident absorbing a lot of the impact. Not sure what gauge of steel they used but it was fairly thin. German engineering at it's best.

Of course the older cars were less safe and had vacuum and mechanical systems instead of software and electronics. They were also more affordable, more repairable by an owner. Of course in most cases motors are now more reliable but it takes computer specialist to diagnose a problem and charging for that before even charging for the work.

In 1980 at 20 years old, I bought a used 79 F150 with 8k miles for $6300. It was a camper special, trailer special long bed, 4 wheel drive. I did a 10 super lift in my driveway and eyeballed the alignment. Brought it in for alignment and it was close.

How much now for that and in comparison how much has income grown or stagnated. Paying way more for less durability and crappie technology. Ecoblast plastic engines, 8 recalls alone with one more coming on a 2024 Maverick. Ford stock down 62% and now on a 3 year probation due to slow or no response to recalls and complaints. Safer maybe, yes, better is questionable.

Nice looking truck! Looks like it has a small lift?? My biggest complaint against the Ranger was the stance. They looked like they needed a slight lift in the front to sit level. Enjoy!
I'm not sure. I bought it used it is a 2021. I haven't had time to figure out every little thing about it. But one of the reasons I liked it was the appearance and stance.

I sat in a Ranger when I sat in and ordered my Maverick, the Ranger seemed to have far less space inside - everything padded seemed to be coming at you, actually made me a little claustrophobic.
I went and looked at the outside of the vehicle and then the inside again and couldn't understand how the inside seems smaller than the Maverick.
The Maverick seems like one of those science fiction movies where the spaceship is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.

It wasn't an illusion. I test drove the F150, Ranger and Maverick. Maverick has just as much if not more leg room at the very least vs the Ranger. The thing that turned me off of the Ranger is that it rides like a WW2 Sherman tank compared to the other 2. Maverick was 10 grand less plus being a hybrid my choice was easy. :) No wonder Ranger sales have tanked since the Maverick came out. LOL.

I would do that switch to Ranger IF the "we only support Australia" peeps at Ford (supposedly an American company?) would deliver the Ranger Phev to US! But they won't for some unknown reason?

Sorry to hear about your Maverick and glad no one was injured. A guy's gotta do what you gotta do. Happy and safer travels in your Ranger.

My father was forced off the road and into a telephone in a '64 bug.

Little brother saw it in impound. He said that you could have put the bumper back on around the pole! (well, if you straighten it first, I suppose).

He shattered the windshield with his forehead and face. I dont' know if he ever got feeling back on his chin.

He broke ribs, but also shattered the steering wheel with them in the process.
