I would think AWD would be better for towing. I was under the assumption that 2000 lbs was the max towing for a FWD hybrid. I didn't know they could be modified to tow more. I am wondering if the transmission can handle it or would it need more cooling.
I'm not sure what the limiting factors are for the 2k towing rating. I'm sure it is more than just a Trans cooler. In order to get the 4k towing package on the 2025 models, there were many upgrades.🤷‍♂️

The original post was saying that the FWD hybrid would tow 4,000 lbs with a trailer brake controller added. I would want to be sure the transmission could handle it too

No, that was a follow-up post (#5) made by the @The Real Maverick. The OP said nothing to that effect.

That is the way I read it. FWD is the only way a hybrid came before 2025 and the post said you could pull 4000 lbs with a trailer brake controller added.

Towing a modified ‘72 Serro Scottie with a ‘23 hybrid Maverick.

No issues, I just stay at or under 65 mph and watch my power meter to keep at or below 50% (thanks GPSMan).

I have towed highways and backroads with some hills, about 6 hrs. trip of driving (stopping when needed). The trailer and Maverick bed were packed with gear and riding in the cab were my wife, daughter, and dog in addition to me.

I got about 24 MPGs using mostly regular or eco settings.
Always wanted a trailer line that.

Yeah, new models are much heavier. Most of these vintage Trailers could be towed by the average car. I personally always wanted a Canned Ham, lol.

I will be towing my 1300 pound camper with an all-wheel-drive hybrid, assuming Ford decides they will finish the damn thing and ship it to me. In production since December 17. My dealer says that it’s being held because of some equipment issue. What a screwed up system.

Can I get the info on a 1300 lb camper? So I can discuss with wife.

This is the post I am referring to. My question is can the transmission handle it without modifications.

For MY22-24, FWD Hybrid: Depends on how long you want your truck to last? You can do a lot of things, the question is should you? If you get pulled over and it's over tow rating you can be fined. Long term it would be hard on the transmission, since it's not designed to tow that much. Adding a brake controller won't fix that.

Google bushwacker camper and look for 10HD. I bought mine during Covid and have traveled all over Maine and New Brunswick. They come with an outdoor kitchen, AC unit and a propane furnace. You can find them at RV trader and craigslist used For less than $10,000. A lot of people bought these small campers and found that they were just too small for them so there are a lot of used units available. Mine is a 10 SS unit, which has one door and a gaucho bed. The 10 HD have two doors and two mattresses cover the floor. I had done a ton of research and found that this was the best value. I love it.

I want to add that bushwhacker has a full range of lightweight larger campers. They have a couple of larger ones under 2500 pounds that are also very inexpensive used And you can stand up in them. They also have a very basic toilet and shower, but I was uninterested in that.
