I was surprised to hear that Racerzz was 68, has three motorcycles and is still drifting around corners. Geeze! 🫨
It’s hard for some to stop.
You should hit a hpde track day once and look at how old some guys are. It’s surprising to see and give me hope I’ll still be doing it.
That’s why I started. Love driving like that. I knew that no way I would be able to compete at my level on arc’s and snowmobiles very long. Cars scratch the itch and I can have fun still after turning 40.

Having competed in autocross and HPD Time Attack I recognized that a 7 inch rim is far too narrow for optimal handling. Of course, it is fine for almost all reading this forum but there could be a few that want handling over appearance or off-road capability. Rather than appearance or the specific combination I am using my intent was to report on the noticeably improved handling of a lightweight wider rim and stickier tire. For those wanting to add appearance to the combination they can shop for whatever wide rim and tire combination they desire.
The arrogance is thick in your responses.

I'm finally tired of not racing over winter, so I started putting this together last night. Waiting on parts, but this should be fun when I get it all done.

I bet they do not. Most street cars I see have wide tires levered on to narrow rims. Few understand that effect on sidewall roll and flex. Then ask them about negative camber or control arm bushing flex.
So !
Your gonna slap numbers on the doors and go race in what class ? 4 banger mini trucks ? I'd like to see that.

Awww, how cute. Anodized 80/20. I love that stuff. This takes me back 30 years.

I'm pretty surprised you mansplained all over us with your Koni yellows and didn't really mention what if anything you've done to improve suspension. The stock ecoboost awd suspension is made to not bottom out with 1500 pounds in the bed or towing 4000 pounds, and based on that it actually handles ok for a truck.

Guys on coilovers can use much shorter tires, typically in conjuction with 4+ inches of drop, and this does give access to many more summer tire options and a few r compounds. In the meantime, I'll take what I can get, even if it's sub-optimal, of course these handle better than stock all-seasons.

I should start by stating my goals. I am not a truck person; I have 3 cars all on Koni suspension and 200 tread wear tires. No desire to go off road, want my maverick to be as car like as possible. Removed the factory 7inch rims and went with lightweight 18x8.5 with 280 tread wear 235's. Saved just over 5lbs. per corner. Much better grip, turn in and handeling. These are summer only tires as truck is stored for winter.
Can you please post pics of these lightweight wheels and tires as well as details of which wheels, tires and size?
