I should start by stating my goals. I am not a truck person; I have 3 cars all on Koni suspension and 200 tread wear tires. No desire to go off road, want my maverick to be as car like as possible. Removed the factory 7inch rims and went with lightweight 18x8.5 with 280 tread wear 235's. Saved just over 5lbs. per corner. Much better grip, turn in and handeling. These are summer only tires as truck is stored for winter.

Perilli P zero tires and Konig rims. I have no photos as I do not make these changed for appearance. I spend far more time driving my vehicles than looking at them, so performance is by far the most important consideration.

Would be neat if you shared what wheels and tires you purchased as well as a few photos.
No pictures for YOU!!🫵

🤫 "710-oil-614" I think I figured out why no pictures.

I thought there may be a few, and I know it would be very few as this is a truck forum, who would benefit from my experience. There are a few of us who value performance over appearance, but of course there will always be the sarcastic replies.

Some of us here are racers and also have fun street cars.

Having competed in autocross and HPD Time Attack I recognized that a 7 inch rim is far too narrow for optimal handling. Of course, it is fine for almost all reading this forum but there could be a few that want handling over appearance or off-road capability. Rather than appearance or the specific combination I am using my intent was to report on the noticeably improved handling of a lightweight wider rim and stickier tire. For those wanting to add appearance to the combination they can shop for whatever wide rim and tire combination they desire.

Yes Yamaha SHO, I have raced MX and road raced motorcycles, with cars both Autox and HPDE Time Attack. SHO Ford with the Yamaha tuned intake?

I'm betting most here know that a wider wheel and stickier [and properly sized] tire will improve handling.

That's where the username came from, yes. I haven't had an SHO for many years and the only thing I do with one now is tune the fastest one in the world.

Very difficult to go from my modified cars to the Maverick, trying to make it handle and grip as well as is reasonably possible.

I didn't find it difficult. It's just a road vehicle for us. I'm not tossing it around as I have other vehicles for that.

I bet they do not. Most street cars I see have wide tires levered on to narrow rims. Few understand that effect on sidewall roll and flex. Then ask them about negative camber or control arm bushing flex.
