Didn't see anyone post this yet, but RaceChip has release a piggy back tune for the Ford Maverick a couple weeks ago. The difference between the S and GTS version is not much.

The highest horsepower/torque increase is the GTS with +29 HP and +33 lb-ft. It is also $100 off due to black friday/cyber Monday.

If any of you guys already tried it, leave it down in the comments so we can get some good insight!

Well ? Any ideas or input about this gadget ? In the fine print it states that it is not detectable by the manufacturer, but it says nothing about the Ford factory warranty. I am calling my dealership service department to get their opinion. Your feedback would be appreciated because I know nothing about computer retuning; just points, plugs, and condensors.

Any computer or hardware changes that can be proven to cause premature failure will not be covered under warranty.

Thanks for posting this. I'm considering a couple of different tunes and this has a better price point for me.

Of course it is not covered under any warranty, at all. Think about it a little bit. You are making components work outside of their range that Ford has set. If it breaks, because you changed something, why are they liable? 🤦‍♂️

If you aren't changing the "CAN" in the ECU, then a device like this is not detectable, as it "piggy backs" and can be removed. It does not leave a footprint on the ECU.

True, I am not debating the tech behind the tune. But to call your dealer, tell them you are going to increase boost with an aftermarket mod, and then ask if it has warranty. How to flag your car 101.

The risk of reducing the life of an engine to gain a little extra power just doesn't make much sense to me. Hell, I'd pay Ford $399 extra to add 20% more longevity to the vehicle!
YES and they could have a screen pop up = "You are on longevity time before this 20% reaches 1% drive to your Ford dealer and claim top dollar trade in" (just like oil change screen)!

I know that with tuners like the Cobb AP, those re-flash the ECU which resets the ignition cycle count. So lets say you blow your motor then reflash back to the stock tune, if the dealership checks the ignition cycles it's going to show the ECU has been reflashed and they can void your warranty. This happened to a friend of mine who blew the engine on his Ecoboost Mustang. For a piggyback tuner that just stays plugged into the OBDII port and doesn't actually reflash the ECU, it shouldn't reset ignition cycles and that's probably why the dealership wouldn't be able to detect it. You just unplug it and bob's your uncle.

I have had a RaceChip in my Fusion for 2 years. No issues and large gains in performance AND gas mileage. Easy install and well worth it imo.

RaceChip ties into the harness and does not flash the ecu. It sends alternate input data to the ecu and causes it to respond accordingly.

Yeah these are clever. They have a video explaining installation on their product for the ranger and all it does is intercept the signals from three sensors. For that one it was the camshaft position sensor, the fuel pressure sensor and the turbo pressure sensor - I assume it's pretty much the same for any turbo engine.

I don't see how the engine computer could possibly know this is even there. But use at your own risk.

That's the whole point of a piggy back tune, you take it off and there is no way for them to tell that you were running a tune, or at least no way to remotely prove it.

That is IF its a good piggy back that has all the factory harnesses so that its plug and play.

If you have to cut up your factory wiring, then that piggy back makes no sense IMO, might as well go with a ECU tune at that point.
