I had my very first recovery today with my hot pepper red Maverick!! A friends’ Bronco Sport with shitty street tires got stuck in the sand after hitching up a double jet ski trailer and trying to leave! It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and didn’t take much. Good thing I already packed a recovery strap. A small accomplishment but have to start somewhere.

Good job. I do pack a strap, though not needed yet. More so someone can pull me if I get to ambitious out in Big Bend Nat'l Park.

Yeah. I have started carrying my own quality kinetic rope ever since I got stuck in a frozen over elementary school driveway in a minivan a few years back. Totally blocked access for anyone trying to drop their kid off. Haha. Luckily someone in a truck came along and yanked me out.

More for someone to save me rather than me saving someone else.

Been there, done that, have been snatched out of boat ramps because of rear wheel drive pickups but the most interesting was when I got stuck on glare ice after giving someone a jump start, I had her pull forward to expose the clear area under her car, I put the truck I was driving in first gear (3 on the tree) let the clutch out the rear tires spinning and gently nudged the truck onto the dry ice free street, when the tires got traction jumped in and drove off.

Good job. For safety reasons I hope you aren't yanking out using a tow ball. They are known to shear off.

Nice. I reccomend everyone that ever leaves pavement for any reason. Always carry a long strap, a shackle of some kind and a short strap. The short strap and the shackle are for recoveries with poor attachment points. Also if you have a receiver hitch, keep a pin in it, most strap loops can simply be slid into the hitch and secured with the pin. The other end can be looped through itself around a strong chassis point if it doesnt have proper recovery points. Just dont loop em around any lines or on suspension components, however suspension chassis mounts are typically strong points.

I think some people forget the Bronco Sport is a road vehicle, not an offroad vehicle. Front-wheel drive sucks when towing a weight like that as the front tires can't get grip even with the engine there. [Edit: My bad]

Glad you were able to help out.

Aren't they all AWD? I think the system is basically the same as the Maverick's.

But doesn't matter much if the tires can't get traction. The AWD is severely limited by the OEM tires, except the Falkens.

Good morning Maverick Man. Thanks for the bit of information. I'm a new Tremor owner and wanted to purchase an inexpensive but quality recovery kinetic rope to have with me in my Tremor in case.
If you're unaware, the Maverick Tremor has two recovery hooks underneath the front bumper and I have the factory trailer hitch receiver in the back. Would you mind explaining or sending some examples of what I could get, just in case, to carry under my rear seat storage bin if I'm ever out and about and I'm, or someone's stuck?
I was thinking a 20-ft kinetic rope that was 3/4" thick. Btw, do I need to get a steel shackle hitch male-end for the rear attachment point, or would just having a pin and soft shackle rope end be good enough? As mentioned, my front end has those two recovery hooks built into the Tremor and I assume I could just put one end of the kinetic rope loop around one of those hooks and it would be good enough, correct?
This is my first off-road vehicle ever and I'd like to just have the minimum necessary tools just in case of emergency. Thanks ahead of time and I appreciate your information 👍

Are they? I thought they were FWD. I admit I could be wrong.

Yep, I see that now. I stand corrected.
