First time towing, impressed! Towed 3000+ boat with my AWD ecoboost Maverick

Towed my 3000+ boat yesterday for the first time with my AWD ecoboost.i normally tow with a hemi ram,which I still have,but I was so impressed the ram might be sitting more,I think it did a better job! The ram is rated for 10,000 pounds and I will use that to tow our 3800 lb camper,but now I want to see how the mav handles that.

No problem with the Pontoon…short distance but no issues pulling in normal mode.

Curious what your pontoon weighs,and curious why you didn't use tow/haul mode?

I’d guess about 3000 lbs for boat, motor, trailer and some gear. 20’ pontoon with 90hp outboard.

on the mode I just forgot to change it. I was on flat surfaces just going a few miles to gas up and clean the boat.

for sure I’ll use it when I take it to the local ramp.

Ah,well I towed about 20 miles round trip,I could definitely tell the tow/haul mode was engaged. Different shift point and acceleration.ive always driven V8 trucks so was leery towing with a 4cyl. Let's just hope this Ford is as reliable as my dodges!

I'm guessing you have the 4k? If not I wouldn't worry towing 3k short distances. I towed a 21' travel trailer about 1100 miles with my 4k and it did amazing! 65 the entire way and better mpgs that I would have guessed, basically towing a sail down the interstate.
