We'll just change the title in our heads:I don't see how one can compare the Maverick hybrid to their off-road Tacoma. They're not comparable vehicles. 'While I appreciate the post, I think the video is downright silly. Compare that Tacoma to the Maverick Tremor and you might have a video worth my time.
Well they get in the backseat of the Mav and then the backseat of the Taco and ask why the bigger truck is smaller on the inside. People who dismiss the Mav don't understand this and might come into a video like that expecting the Taco to be better in every way when the video shows it only really being better in one way.I don't see how one can compare the Maverick hybrid to their off-road Tacoma. I did buy two new maverick's for 45,800. My wife drive's the hot pepper red hybrid and i drive the the shadow black 2.0 eco.tacoma hybrid 24MPG if not wrong and $48K.....I would order 2 maverick hybrid XL for me and family instead
Correct me if I'm wrong but that model Tacoma they sell in 2wd as well. So I believe it was comparing trucks if similar 2wd vs 2wd, hybrid vs hybrid. Not saying the one that was in the video was or wasn't 4wd but trying to do a comparison and also disproving a lot of individuals that doesn't agree or say comments that the Maverick is not a truck.I don't see how one can compare the Maverick hybrid to their off-road Tacoma. have not watched the video yet, but yeah the back seat is a big deal to me and it bugs me the mid sizers are not better..... on the flip side the back seat being decent size was a big selling point for me with the MaverickWell they get in the backseat of the Mav and then the backseat of the Taco and ask why the bigger truck is smaller on the inside. Which I might add the Maverick is a truck. It just comes with a better ride, more leg and head room, more payload or compatible payload and better mileage than many mid size trucks. It also if equipped correctly can tow a very reasonable amount but sadly most likely have a lower tow rating than most mid size truck max towing capabilities. Though the max towing on the Ford Maverick is more than enough for myself and many others.
For a daily driver the Ford Maverick is hard to beat. It maybe why they are selling so well. Besides being one of the lowest price it has all the attributes I mentioned above that contributes to it's sales success. Even when many dealerships are price gouging, the truck is still flying off dealer lots.
I do agree to your post if you are trying to compare the Tacoma PRO 4wd to Ford Maverick in off road it should have been the Tremor package instead of the hybrid. I just don't think off road was the comparison but whether it's a truck, or truck worthy comparing interior room, payload, HP, torque, towing etc. to the Tacoma. The reason I don't think that was the reason I don't remember them comparing ground clearance, approach angles, crest angle and departure angles. If they did they didn't make a big deal over these because they were not trying to delve into off roading but more daily driver and most uses of a 2wd truck. Just my opinion, I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first or last, that's for sure.
I agree that you know the significance of virtues of the Ford Maverick especially if you've own one. Unfortunately without owning or even looking at the Maverick which is hard with many dealerships having few to none. I say great video and trying to let others know who doesn't own one, how well it stacks up to a midsize truck. I see that they just used the Toyota as a comparison because they mentioned in the video they had previously purchased it. So they had it there or available to compare trucks but not the off road capabilities. Thanks for your insights and comments.
The comparison is clearly between the Maverick hybrid and an off road capable Tacoma. (See my screenshot of the title screen). I did not go deep into the video, so perhaps a different title screen is needed to target more of what the video was trying to accomplish, but why should I have to do the work trying to figure out the video maker's point?
As a happy owner of a Maverick, I need no reminder of how the truck meets many of my needs and exceeds my expectations in several categories you mentioned. Preachin' to the choir. I'm sure the Tacoma fans have reasons for their affinity, but as another member mentioned, the mid-sized trucks are now just as big as the earlier full-size ones.
The overwhelming majority of "off-road" Tacomas never go off-road also.
