I've been wanting to disable the GD panic button since I took delivery of this truck and set it off the first evening the truck was in the garage.
One question, though. What did you use to remove the button off the board?

Having hit the panic button accidentally, I can see the appeal of this fix.

That's a good method, too. But it requires a laptop, cable and the FORScan software.
I just popped the button out and taped it up to keep the dirt out.

Why would you remove the button? That is how you find your car in a large parking lot. Hit the panic button.
Is it something with that specific keyfob? I have the Lariat with keyless entry and have my fob in a case, but I have never found the panic button to be easy to push by accident (or intentionally for that matter).

Probably the same reason you'd put a cargo net on your lariat's front door panels with self tapping screws running through the plastic door panel.

I have no need for panic button so I removed it & will never have the accidental panic push. Takes 5 mins to disassemble fob & remove button. Everyone has different wants & needs. I just wanted to share with the community because I use forums for all sorts of shit to gain knowledge & different ideas/viewpoints. It's amazing to get ideas from soo many different people. That's what makes the interwebs soo great!!
Programming a new key fob is free. You can do it yourself. It takes only a couple of minutes. Cutting the key itself can be done by a competent locksmith. It cost me $75 to have the two metal keys cut.
