It popped off with my pocket knifeWOW. Thank You!
I've been wanting to disable the GD panic button since I took delivery of this truck and set it off the first evening the truck was in the garage.
One question, though. What did you use to remove the button off the board?
Cool! Figured that was the case, but didn't want to completely f/u the board by trying! It popped off with my pocket knife
That's a good method, too. But it requires a laptop, cable and the FORScan software.Having hit the panic button accidentally, I can see the appeal of this fix.
Though my preference would be to go with this one: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/disable-panic-alarm.21229/
Baring the laptop that is still potentially cheaper than having to program a new fob because ya goofed removing a button. That's a good method, too. But it requires a laptop, cable and the FORScan software.
Can you pop out that green PCB? I haven’t tried but if so, you can usually just put a small piece of toothpick in there to block the connection.
Probably the same reason you'd put a cargo net on your lariat's front door panels with self tapping screws running through the plastic door panel. Why would you remove the button? That is how you find your car in a large parking lot. Hit the panic button.
Programming a new key fob is free. You can do it yourself. It takes only a couple of minutes. Cutting the key itself can be done by a competent locksmith. It cost me $75 to have the two metal keys cut.Baring the laptop that is still potentially cheaper than having to program a new fob because ya goofed removing a button.
