Watch out for the mice. I just spent$400 to repair some mouse damage on my 2026 XLT, got off easy. My dealer service rep says they are getting daily damaged vehicles. I am going to try some mouse repellent hope it works.

Juice some Jalapenos. Mice/rats stay away from the capsaicin.

Mice don't usually do that, its probably a squirrel & they have pee"d on your truck marking their territory.
It will be back, I've repaired the the same vehicle several times at the dealer until the customer takes proactive action
Red squirrels are the most destructive
I would set up a live trap with a fine mesh & a few mouse traps by a front wheel close to their damage area, their about $40 but pays itself off on the first catch

Animals damage my 2020 F-150 in just a few months back in 2020. I had parked my 1995 F-150, 1999 F-350 DRW and my 2010 F-150 in the same spot for years with zero issues. Tried all the B.S. tapes & sprays to stop rats from eating the 2020's wires & foam injector covers no luck. What stopped the rats the first night was LED flood lights [LED tractor lights] pointing up on the carport on the bottom of the 2020 F-150. Now that I have 2025 Maverick Hybrid Hybrid I still park over the LED lights every night with no issues. - How did I know the issue was rats? Placed a Game Camera on the driveway pointing under the 2020 F-150 and got a number of pictures & videos of the rats during the night. - How are the LED lights controlled? The four 12 VDC lights are powered from a old deep cycle battery. A small but simple solar panel with MPPT solar controller keeps the battery charged and also has a timer controlled switch DC output to control 12 VDC security lights. My "rat lights " are my security lights. Total cost for all the stuff [mostly used] was around $200. The system is now 15 years old and no more rat damage.

We have deterrents here. Cats! They keep mice and rats away. Squirrels haven't been an issue, except getting into my wife's bird seed. Of course you will have a cat sitting in the middle of your hood!

I bought some peppermint spray on Amazon and sprayed the firewall. On the advice of our local mechanic, I also bought a very lifelike plastic snake and tie-wrapped it up over the shock tower. Knock on wood, no squirrels. Little bastards chewed clean through the wiring on our old Subaru and also on our Fiesta.

And it's not just limited to automobile wiring. Here's an air conditioner that quit due to mice having a feast on the 480volt 3-phase power. when I repaired this,

It happened again this time I am sure it was a squirrel. One more trip to the dealership. Put in rodant repellent after the first one. Did not help sprayed the motor area with penetration oil to get rid of there sent and got a trap to catch them. See pics of the nest they built in 10 days.

Add me to the rodent club. $600, of which half was diagnosis. Took a two to the dealership, as my Mav would only run 10 seconds before shutting itself down. I now use a mint spray. Parked outside by necessity.
