Got Ford notice of recall on the wiper motor seal issue. Loverly.

Question - anyone knows where that wiper motor is located? I opened the hood, look near, under the firewall for the wiper motor. I just can’t see it. It may be hidden behind some stuff there, or maybe inside that drain, vent pan at the base of the windscreen. Or maybe inside the dash area.

I am curious of it’s locale to ascertain if a tech had to rip body parts off to get to it.

The other recall - of screen freeze up - may be easier to do. Or will it?

It's under the plastic windshield/wiper cowl (what you're calling the drain/vent pan) on the driver's side.

^^^ Geez, what an awful and pretty much worthless video, was he trying to set a record for "Most camera shake"?
It's actually pretty good when there's not another one that exists. Made me consider putting my ditch light wiring under the cowl.

Do we think Ford can somehow fuck up your cowl to get to the seal as we've seen similar cases with the airbag recall?

It’s the dealer, not Ford. It’s much less complex than the airbag recall, with all the interior parts, but yes, they could mess it up anyway.

I didn’t have the airbag recal done, butt I might let them do this one.

I’d like to find out what seal they are talking about and try to fix it myself

Not to hijack this but:
IF YOU HAVE THE AIRBAG RECALL MAKE SURE YOUR HEADLINER STILL FITS PROPERLY.

Thank you Tbone. Good info. Hope a tech at dealer watching same video, or knows how to rip that cover off.
Now need sit, wait for Ford to notify me when they, or dealer have seal.

I got the wiper motor recall today as well as the back-up camera sticking recalls today.
Supposedly the stock of wiper motor parts, if needed, is limited.
The back-up camera software issue has NOT been figured out yet ? Per Ford anyway.
I'm NOT getting a real warm and fuzzy feeling out of all this.

Makes me wonder how the Maverick ranks on number of recalls for a new vehicle. My 'wonder' turned into research (bless the Information Age) and it seems the Maverick is ranked No. 11 with a projected 20.7 recalls which is almost 6.5 times the median. Here's the link. I think I'll start a new thread on this.

My thoughts exactly, on both counts. It's all I could find, unfortunately.

I'm sure there are plenty of ham-fisted techs out there that can screw it up. Anyone that has this done should check the windshield seal. If it's not done properly you'll end up with soaked carpet in the front footwells. This is always a dilemma for me: is it better to always check the work that's done, or do it myself? Usually I opt for the latter.

The software fix for camera according to nhtsa is same version as 24s....trust me 24s are not better.

does anyone know if they can adjust the recall numbers/vehicles affected on the fly? When the news was posted on MTC (when the first recall info came out about the wiper motor recall), I checked the Ford website and the NHTSA site and my vehicle was one of the ones with the recall.

I just checked Ford right now (along with the NHTSA site) a few weeks later, and now my vehicle does not have a recall listed anymore. Is that a common thing, or not? I mean I am going to ask my dealership when I go in for my service this week if they can check anyways... but it worries me a bit that I was affected...and now not...but nothing changed.

EDIT: Also the NHTSA site shows the affected Mavericks as...... Maverick - MY 2023/2024 - Built June 20, 2023 through September 29, 2023 ...and as you can see with my signature block... mine was built on Sept 6th 2023... well within the June 20 - Sept 29th 2023....
