Had a '72 Orange Maverick Grabber w/250 cid engine. IIRC it got 18 mpg or so. Had enough torque to spin the tires at will.

I had a '71. Puke green and rust with a white top. 200 inline 6 AT. Slammed on the brakes one day to avoid an accident and put my heel right through the floor. Owned it for 6 months until the frame rusted through. MN winter salty road victim. When the temps dropped near -10 degrees (f) the horn would sound off until the battery died. I'm hoping the truck fares better!

I finally found the reason for the horn blowing in the winter, it was due to the plastic on the steering wheel contracting in the cold weather, it was a strange thing, deluxe model

Yes my first legal vehicle was an early seventies used two door green maverick manual trans. 200ci inline six. Paid $200 and it ran, just used a bit of oil. I did not think it was cool at all, but now looking back I could have made it into a nice looking sports car.

As a MAVERICK owner myself, I am curious if folks have owned a Maverick in the past or still own one currently? ;)

Very Nice. I love the Color and the plaid interior. Once owned a 1953 Chrysler Windsor Convertible with a red/black/white plaid interior. Wish I still had it. I just ordered a Velocity Blue XL, I guess I need to find an original Maverick to restore so I can have a matched pair.

I was never interested in the old Maverick when it first came out as I had 1970 Dodge Challenger SE which I loved! I had guys leaving notes under windshield wiper asking if I wanted to sell….or keep their number for when I finally decided to. Sold it in 1982 and switched to buying Toyotas. The Challenger was trouble free entire time I owned it. They only made 4700-5k of this SE model….so sold it to highest offer.

When I first started selling cars back in the late 80s, one of my first trade ins was an old Maverick. It had a manual 3 on the tree transmission. I couldn't drive it, lol. Had to have one of the old timers help me.

If it counts, my parents had a Maverick. Just a kid at the time I barely remember it. Believe it was brown / gold -ish color and 4 doors. What I remember more was his 1929 Model A he restored. He loved that thing. Wish I would have had the chance to of bought it from him long ago. Would be nice to have now.

Great stuff... thanks for sharing.
We also own a Model A Ford - been in the family since ‘58.

Hilarious but happy you are still here to tell the story.
Puke green ...... yep, I know that color from my first ‘ 65 Mustang. Sold it before I could change that horrid color. 🥵
All the best to you when you get the NEW MAVERICK ✔🇺🇸

Nice ride...
That is look that led to the Ford Granada as an upscale replacement “back in the day”.
No plaid interior for you.......✔

Pop2020, that looks about like the color I remember my parents had for their Maverick.

Thanks on the official Maverick family member welcome, Shecster. (y)

I miss-typed in my earlier post. Dad had a 1930 Model A that he restored. Also had a 1929 convertible that he started to restore but did not finish. Don't remember why. Not the best quality pics but all I have at the moment. A few better ones with me as a toddler sitting on the running board but don't want to bore ya with those. :)

added -the 1929 was a right hand drive and not just a mirrored image.
