It's all about tradeoffs. You get good fuel mileage and on road drivability but that will take away off road ability.
I like the idea of a vehicle that is versatile, even if it has limits.

It's not that big of a deal just use a cordless nut driver to remove shield. The oil drain is toward the rear of the vehicle so when it is on ramps the oil flows toward the drain and should drain better.
