2023 XLT Hybrid. Fires engine up EVERY TIME. But I have ONLY used it during cold times meaning under 20F. . I used it about 8 times now as its been a super cold winter. Last winter never used it once. . PLUS heater control it was on before last shutdown are irrelevant on mine. The heat is on full blast to defrost front window. .

When I get in the heater like I said is blowing full onto front window BUT all HVAC controls are dark until I put in key to run position then it goes right back to what ever setting I last used.

My last vehicle a 2020 ecosport acted just the same,. On that I did use it a few times in summer and it had AC on full.

If you're remote starting it to warm up the car, then yes, it probably will start. The supplemental heat elements in the HVAC aren't going to be enough to warm the interior and the engine will have to start to warm up the heater core. Might not start the engine right away but it won't take long for it to realize it needs to.

Finally got to try my remote start with cold (for us) temperatures here in Texas the last few weeks. I usually leave mine on Auto settings. When we had 5 inches of snow and temps in the teens, my truck turned on the gas engine, the heated seats and steering wheel when I remote started it. A week later, with temps in the mid 60's, I found it with only the electric on and no heated seats or steering wheel. The truck is smart enough to know when I need those and when I don't! Love this thing.

My 23 hybrid starts the engine and warms up the cabin or cools depending on the ambient air outside. Use it every day. The seats go on hi temp and steering wheel heats during the winter. Those don’t come on during summer. It doesn’t matter what the console temps are set too either. I think I saw it in the auto start settings to turn on A/C or heat depending on ambient temps

I hate getting in to cold car in winters. I usually turn on my EV and heat the cabin 10 min before I start.

I was wondering if remote starting the maverick(hybrid) will just warm the cabin in battery mode(not starting the engine) !!
If you have a regular EV, the battery in it is probably ~70 times± larger than the HV battery in the Maverick Hybrid. So there is enough capacity for a full EV to heat its cabin electrically. Not possible with the Maverick Hybrid.

There is an AUX electric heater in my Maverick XL Hybrid, and it comes on if heat is set to HI. If you leave the truck heater on HI temp & HI fan and park the truck, when you remote start later, the AUX heater will come on and quickly deplete the HV battery. This will start the gasoline engine in short order, in order to charge the HV battery. And once the coolant is at sufficient temp, the truck will be heated with that waste heat.

Also, if the HV battery is already down to ~30% charge, the gasoline engine will start almost immediately after remote starting, regardless of whether the cabin heater is on or not.

My Ford Pass remote is useless...
It works about 1 out of 10 tries...and that's only on a day after I drove it the day before...The dealers' solution after testing everything is" You just need to drive it more !"...
I didn't order the truck to be told that I should drive it more than I need to. I bought it expecting all the bell's & whistles that I paid for would work when I want to use them.
Not happy with their non- solution.

You might be having 12volt battery issues, this will kill ford pass until it’s fixed. You will get a message on your phone saying it’s in deep sleep mode. Also the cell tower signal needs to be strong, I believe it’s a AT&T modem as there is no Verizon at my house and the app works every time. It used to stop when I first got the truck due to the crap 12 volt battery. Many post here. I replaced mine with an optima H5 yellow top and have never had the deep sleep of death.

Thanks....It's a 24... only got 4,000 miles on it...
I get the sleep mode message all the time...The dealer checked out twice.
They say the battery is weak, but they can't replace it til it's completely bad.
What kind of service & warranty is that ?

If the hand held tester says the battery is good but needs charging request that dealer do the overnight test. My dealer replaced my BXT99RT4A with a BXT99RT4A MAX Series (larger Ah capacity) due to bad cell. Apparently the hand held tester cannot reliably find a weak cell???

I just cannot wrap my brain around the thought of
‘Pre-heating’ with the hybrid engine off.
So ten minutes later you get into your Mav with a pre heated but cold engine and drive off into traffic,
With a cold engine ?
My heated seats and steering wheel would not be enough by its self.
My ‘Auto’ air has three intensity levels. It is set to the middle level.
Ten to fifteen minutes after a remote start my cab and engine are all happy and warm.

Does the pre heated give you hybrid drivers a warm/warmer cab ?
Any warm air flowing out of the vents ? Defrosted windshield ?
No. It does not do that.
Gasoline engine is the heat source.

No. Firing up the gas engine has nothing to do with a running status. Unless you already have the battery in a low state of charge, it will start into battery-only operation. If you put the climate management into max heat it will use the battery to heat a small electric heating coil in the airflow. If you put the defrost mode on then the electric A/C is engaged. Both of these will fairly rapidly deplete the battery and the engine will soon fire up to recharge it. When the engine fires up the resulting hot water will add to the cabin heating.
The bottom line: If you live in the snowbelt then don't get the base model XL. You need the steering wheel and seat heaters instead of warming the entire cab.
No. It does not work like that. You are mistaken.

Gasoline engine provides the cabin air heat. No gasoline burned, no heated air. Only the heated seats and/or wheel operate independent of the gasoline engine. The "booster heater" only comes on in rare situations if the gasoline alone being burned is not enough. It never comes out without the gasoline engine.

Thank all
I've had my Lariat hybrid over a year now and frequently remote start with the app as well as the fob and the engine starts almost immediately in colder weather. I also set the seat heater(s) and steering wheel heater to on before shutting down and they always are on when I remote start.

If you want the ice to start set AC to auto with the Temp set to HI (not 85°F click once more or until you see HI displayed). This turns the auxillary heater on also and requires enough electricity to require starter/generator to be running probably at faster than idle! (You might want to be sure 30 minute max idle is selected if you don't want 100° cabin temp).

I remembered reading something about an electric heater awhile back and found it:

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...ybrid-have-the-supplemental-heater-for.57584/

Is that BS?

It will pre-heat but the gasoline engine needs to run.

But you need to remember to turn on the heater settings before shutting down the day before. (Maybe AUTO will do the same, I rarely use AUTO.) Also, if equipped, you can set it to have seat heaters and steering wheel heaters automatically come on too.

To be clear... only burning gasoline will heat your truck cabin. There is no way to heat the air with electricity alone. But you can heat the seats and steering wheel (if equipped) and those devices take trivial power. About the same power as headlamps. So use them!
