I am under the impression but have not verified. That in the hybrid with push start without foot on brake you push the button once and you are in 12v battery only accessory mode. If you push the button twice quickly it goes into extended hybrid battery assisted accessory mode. When 12v drops to 11.9-12.1 I don't remember which, accessory mode will shut off extended accessory mode will shut off when HVB drops below it's 30% soc. Is possible that this has been changed in one of the recalls to protect the 12v. You get a screen, or used to, on the double push = "Extended accessory is ON!". In both accessory modes the dial has to be in Park for safety and to put into drive the brake pedal has to be pushed.
I have never put my XLT hybrid into either accessory mode but expect turn key once into accessory for 12v and twice into accessory for HVB extended accessory. Whether read that on here or in manual do not remember.
