Why ecoboost? Properly configured, it's better than a hybrid in every single difference they have except fuel economy.

AWD if equipped (and it should be). Tows 4k if equipped. It's MUCH more fun to drive fast. Much more capable offroad or in wintry conditions (assuming same/similar tires used comparing hybrid and ecoboost AWD).

Hybrid can save a lot of money in high mileage scenarios, especially high mileage urban. I do about 25k miles a year but it's 85% highway, more than 2/3rds is company travel, and my company pays for the gas.

Even if I drove 15k a year and paid all the gas, I wouldn't want a hybrid Maverick. I want a more capable vehicle.

WOW, by page 6 many have shown up just to trash this thread and our EB ordering/purchasing decision. ☹ Really shameful. Thanks for ruining this thread for Ecoboost buyers. I think we are seeing this rear it's ugly head again. I wish we weren't, but what other conclusion can be drawn? That's it, none of you are invited to my Maverick EB color reveal party now.

What made you decide to get the ecoboost over the hybrid?
Was it mainly towing?
I started by ordering a 2022 hybrid and changed to an ecoboost because of the wait. In 2023 I ordered a hybrid and did not care how long I would have to wait. When I was in Jacksonville, FL a man came up to my Maverick and asked if I liked it. He said he was on the design team that worked on it. I told him they did a good job.

The fact that Hybrid was/is much harder to get factored into it. I also wanted AWD, and the upgraded towing package was not bad either.
Delivery in 4 months vs. 12-18 months plus AWD.

I thought the saleman asked me if I wanted "Eco boobs".

I wasn't sure what that even meant, but it turned out it was nothing liked I'd hoped it meant.
Sorry for the late response. But I heard that in the past the “Eco Boobs” had a lot of recalls. Something about silicone leaking into the manifolds. Plus, they just don’t handle as well, especially around the corners. They just feel like a sack of water to me. I prefer the natural ones, with no type of injectors or add ons.

What route are you even referring to?

There are massive differences between a Maverick and a Ranger. One specific reason that is a huge factor - beit EB or Hybrid - is MPG. Both are better than anything the Ranger has to offer. The Tremor is close to the average reports of what Ranger owners say they get in terms of MPG but even on this forum most people with Tremors report above window sticker MPG's. Also, an XLT 4x4 basic Ranger starts at $40k... what does a Maverick Lariat start at? $36K.

So... you buying? You paying for the fuel?

Also, up until 2024 the 5th gen rangers were ugly AF... hard pass.

Compared to what? (e)CVT's? I was unaware they were any easier (or cheaper for that matter) to repair... I believe the quote was for the engine, not the transmission. Personally I like the eCVT's but I'm not comparing them to engines either...
I wasn't actually comparing, I was responding to the comment where it was mentioned that Ecoboost engines are simpler. I don't consider just the engine, I consider the system (drivetrain).

I wanted a hybrid (truck), but my travel trailer is too heavy. We debated selling the travel trailer and getting a hybrid, but I like my travel trailer. I drove a coworkers hybrid and it was plenty powerful for me, but I am coming from a Chevy Cruze with the 1.4 turbo and my wife has a Prius (gasp). My Silverado had some get up and go, but at 17mpg, I am not sad to see it go.

Unless you are driving well above legal speeds
Actually, even if you are. I traveled about an hour in proximity with a hybrid XL this past summer on I70 in Kansas. Didn't know the guy, but he didn't have cruise control and I have ACC set around 84 and he would range slower and faster. Then for a while, enough faster to get out of my sight. Pulled in for gas and ... I'll be damned, there he is, so I walked up and talked to him briefly.

Said he gets 32-33 mpg at 85. I only get 27-28 at that speed with my tonneau cover installed, and about 2 mpg less without it. I do plenty of miles on the interstate so this isn't a one-off observation. (Well, his report to me is a one-off. But I know what I can do. :D) But I can assure you that in 2 lane highway passing situations, my ecoboost truck is in the opposite lane to pass a lot less time than a hybrid would be. (y)

Again. If you care a whole lot about mpg - whether it's real money you're saving, or you think mpg is a fun video game with prizes - get a hybrid.

Funny thing is that each camp thinks their flavor of Maverick is the best. That's because they each actually are the best for totally different use cases. Either Maverick is better than a Santa Cruz, and there currently are no other compact trucks.

Ecoboost was available . would have gotten ecoboost any way . first year model . ecoboost engine and 8 speed tranny in use for many years . I like the mpg of it compared to previous f150 . Plus would out perform f150 in 0 to 60 and handling . f150 was good at towing but I no longer needed it for that purpose .
