Most manufacturers are losing physical buttons. It's the way the industry is going like it or not. They got rid of starter buttons/pedals and Dimmer switches on the floor too. I'm sure the complaints stopped after a few years. For those who hate change, the old vehicles will always be available. I still have a big block 4 speed car with manual windows and a dimmer switch on the floor. But love my 25 Maverick as a daily driver.
While I mostly agree with you BUT . Putting HVAC on screen is not to make it better like dimmer switch off floor to turn signal stalk. (dimmer on floor with stick shift oh the fun) Its just CHEAPER. is the ONLY goal. NOT better. . So people should complain . I have driven several cars with controls on screen,, they all sucked.

Then the guys who say I never touch it. I use auto line . I turn AC on with fan at higher point to quickly cool mav off. Then progressively lower fan speed eventually to lowest setting . This was NOT directed at you but other poster who said he just leaves it on auto.

Its all about keeping your attention on the road, not on the screen.

I find the HVAC on the touchscreen inconvenient but safer. With my crappy eyesight the truck needs to be stopped for me to adjust controls.

I could never operate a knobless Tesla - would have to be totally self driving with voice activated HVAC.

Maybe my Maverick has voice activated HVAC controls? Have to check,

I set mine when I get in the truck, if a change is needed. Driving home from work today, no changes needed at all. I remote started it 5 minutes before leaving, as the outside temp was about 95 degrees. Air was on auto, and cooled down. Drove home. No modes, no hvac, stereo, or any other buttons needed. I had it all set from going to lunch.

I don’t have auto or remote start, but like you I turn it on before I start driving (after warmup). AC on max cool & FAN on low. I’ve had the truck for 2 weeks now & becoming routine. I’m a creature of habit so I’ll soon prefer the screen over knobs:)

Remote start through the Ford pass app is standard on all Mavericks.

My wife's S7 cell will not install Ford Pass because it is old tech.

Edit: I had to replace my S7 last year with a S24 Ultra. My wife thinks it to big & heavy for her. Her S7 cell is still working for her. (Most of the time)

That's what I have, the S24 Ultra. My wife got the standard S25. It's smaller and lighter.

I just got the 2025 Lobo about a month ago after not having a new car for about 15 years because I hate payments. But honestly I don’t mind the screen. Almost everything can be controlled by the microphone button on the steering wheel if you don’t want to look.
Most people are staring at their phones when driving in every vehicle anyways. I try to use the voice as much as possible and seems to do the job.

I really appreciated the simplicity of the Maverick on screen controls all the more after driving my cousin's 2026 Acura RDX. I replaced her AC condenser. And when I turned her AC on and tried to manually adjust the fan speed, It took me a while the even find the adjustment on the cluttered screen. The rear defogger was equally difficult to find. The Temp adjustment was easy because it was a physical knob. But everything else including the radio was confusing unless you're very familiar with the vehicle. In contrast, a person could get in the Maverick and quickly find the climate and radio controls even if previously unfamiliar.
2026? they're not out yet!

buttons > touchscreen ... always

but to pick a 24 over a 25 because of buttons would be a wild decision to make, unless the touchscreen was atrocious, which it's not, it's fine.

What im more annoyed about, is that the volume knob is on the passenger side and I have the trailer assist knob closest to me, if offered the scenario of hvac buttons or closer volume, I would pick closer volume knob.

I'm also not too fond of the layout on the steering wheel. fwd/back should be on 1 side with volume as a rocker up and down, the cruise should be on the right side, but as time goes on I'm sure ill get used to all of this and then be ready to be mad all over again when it changes up on a future vehicle.

Ya - they could have taken some design cues from even a 2005 RAV4.
Change volume and preset is on 1 side, and the Up direction is a taller button by a smidge - no need to even glance there you can feel the difference.
And cruise buttons have fewer with same difference higher/lower speed, but I know the current setup is so the ACC option can easily be added.

I found that we tend to prefer controls like volume cruise, etc where they were on our last vehicle. Otherwise, it's a learning curve for a while.

I saw this on my Facebook feed and it made me think of this forum post lol. I have no complaints about the screen whatsoever. The automatic temperature works nearly flawlessly and so it doesn't bother me. I just thought this was funny
