Why so much negativity

Look, we can only read so many "HERE'S MY NEW HIGH SCORE ON MPG!!!!" posts from the hybrid folks...

Seems to me all the problems are with the hybrids. My Ecoboost XLT AWD with towing package is the best MPG truck I ever had. If I am in cruise on long hwy trips I get 33 MPG, 28 MPG Average, have power, towing, AWD etc. A real truck. 250 HP. 277 Torque & Fast. Most hybrid owners are 1st. Time truck owners it seems & they are previous Prius or Civic lowered vehicle owners.

Seriously? If you were a real truck guy you would have a one-ton or something lol. But this reminds me of the short weenie syndrome...... I don't own either yet. I'm currently choosing but it seems to me that the most problems with the turbo are ones you would see down the road the hybrid the other way around. You're not going to get the carbon problem nearly as much in the hybrid and it seems like the transmission will probably last longer.

I have had many trucks from old S-10s and Rangers, VW Caddys, half tons, 1 tons, 1.5 ton, 2.5 tons, etc. They all serve a purpose. But in my book bigger is better for towing. I chose the hybrid because it is going to be used for light duty home owner stuff and my daily commute. If I want to tow small stuff again I am getting at least a half ton if not 3/4 ton.

I own a great hybrid car and love it. I'll only drive my truck 3K-4K miles per year, and I chose the EB for several reasons, some of whack are as follows.

1. Difference in annual fuel cost is negligible (to me)
2. I want AWD
3. I want a transmission with discrete gears
4. I don't want brakes to grab when changing from regenerative breaking to brake pads

Based on 4 months of reading posts in this forum, I see more issues posted by hybrid owners than EB owners. I suspect many are first time hybrid owners who had higher expectations.

It all comes down to someone's needs. The hybrid fits my lifestyle perfectly. Furthermore, the e-cvt in the hybrid is tried and true. I have that same transmission in my Lincoln MKZ Hybrid and it's great. It's going on 160k miles without a single issue.

The eco-guzzlers use a traditional shifting transmission and a lot of people are having issues with them. My Ford dealership has made reference to the problems those transmissions are having after 60-70k miles.

Why are you running 87? Give it the proper fuel and it will he more powerful and should get a little better mileage.

Do it for the commute ,already have livernois tuner with an optimized 87 performance tune and when I want to run the $5.00 a gallon 91 octane or mix with e85 to make e30 I get about 85 more hp , but a less mpg , usually cause my is in it at the drag strip!
Still waiting may do the Corsair turbo for about 20% more , then retune!
I think the 255/75/17 mud terrains pretty much kill the mileage I could get . Like I said stock the tremor eeeked out 22.9 mpg on factory pizza cutters on a long trip to Reno and Tahoe a few months ago.
I’m good where the mileage is at best I’ve ever gotten in something that has a bed.performance already smokes most minis and mid size trucks , audi sq5 is about closest thing in size and speed at the track . A couple modded ones have the maverick beat , but they are at close to 470 hp with bigger turbos ( they weigh a little more)and cost more.

100% agree... it depends on what we want. I posted my reasons in response to someone who suggested EB owners regret not getting a hybrid. I chose the EB knowing the trade-off because it's what I want. Others choose hybrid because it's what they want. There is no right or wrong. Don't worry, be happy if we made our choice based on understanding the pros and cons.

I agree. I just like ruffling the feathers of eco-guzzler owners. They're super sensitive...

Before I knew there were Mavericks I wanted a front wheel drive Ford pick up truck so I have a First Edition hybrid. And right now there is an electrical cord through the front door powering a trickle charger so it won't go into hibernation. And when I start it I have to push my coat back so that I can hit the drive mode button four times so that I go into ECO mode. AND the start button is down low hiding from eye sight, especially when the battery is low and the interior lights don't work. The blind side alerts that should be on the driver's dash and the video screen that should not be visible from the driver's seat. Too many electronics that the ten year old computer system has trouble managing!
I'm old enough that the Mav is probably my last new vehicle so I'm just going to have to live with it but it could have been so much more driver friendly!

Promoters of other cars post negatively because they don't like to see a well made inexpensive vehicle on the market. It makes them look bad and forces them to lower their prices. Happens all the time. In fact most posts are from that strategy. Do you really think companies don't pay for this kind of thing???

Yeah, 26mpg is great for the eco-boost! Congrats!

People with an issue or problem are more vocal, the typical person doesn't go out of their way to tout their purchase, but they do like to complain. Other than the 12v, which is any vehicle today, mine has been great! - Even in winter my average has been 43+ mpg, and beginning to creep back up as the temps have warmed.

Oh I agree. That was more busting his stones for the comment about hybrid drivers previously owning a civic or a Prius. Apparently there's something about a Prius that triggers a certain demographic in our society....

Agreed.
It is possible that Mary Barra, CEO of GM, is responsible for a significant portion of the negative comments on the forum. Why else would GM pay her $25 million a year?
