Random shower thought here .. Ford spends $ to install carpet in their vehicles. We spend money covering up that carpet with mats. Why doesn't Ford just offer carpet-less flooring for the Maverick?

This idea came to me after seeing the Lighting Pro (lowest model) and actually wanting a non-carpeted floor lol

Cheap sound dampening and cheap flooring. They can make money selling "all weather" accessories.

But I agree. The new Chevy Colorado Trail Bosses offer an option to have the carpet removed and a sort of plastic vinyl whatever work truck kind of material instead. The downside is that option compromises other options you could possibly get - but if I was given the option and it was a thicker material that offers the same minimal amount of sound dampening while maintaining all the other options I want, I'd chose it every time over carpet.

I like carpet.. and I actually buy very nice oem (or 3rd in the case of the Maverick) carpeted mats to take the brunt of the abuse. i don't like vinyl/rubber flooring in vehicles...
It does have it's place for sure. Have you ever looked into TuxMat floor liners? Really bridges that gap from the cheap plastic materials used in all weather liners these days. They are soft but durable.

I remember back in the sixties and earlier, the entry level, (like the Plymouth Valiant 100 I learned to drive on) and all basic work trucks came with full rubber flooring. It did have a jute (sound deadening) backing. Easy to maintain, but nearly not as nice as full carpeting. l thought that even today, on basic work or fleet vehicles, the rubber flooring was still available or even standard.

The last vehicle I had with rubber/vinyl floor was a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac. I never understood the purpose of carpet in vehicles. I would always choose a vinyl floor if available. High end houses now have vinyl plank as the flooring of choice.

Out of (1) F100 and (3) Rangers, I had carpeting in the 2nd, 1994 Ranger. It soaked up the winter snows and salt and rusted out faster then the others... :(
The "Work Truck" vinyl flooring in the others, worked fine!.

It's impossible to find a basic work truck unless you go outside the US. Pickups are now expected to be luxury vehicles with carpet, dual climate, heated seats, on and on. I hoped that Maverick would be the exception but consumer demand wants gadgets and creature comforts.

Yes, The "Stock Items" on my (Bone-stock 2022-era) Mav, would have been "Options" on my last Ranger.
*Power Locks
*Power Windows (my friends still roll-down, Imaginary "Window Cranks", when they ride in the MAV, just to piss me off!!.) 🥴
*Backup Camera
*Hands-free phone
and *Auto lights (headlights, dimmers and such).

Boy, People have Gotten Lazy.. If I wanted to "Drive" my couch, I would just stay home... 🤪

I removed the old nasty carpet from my '98 Ranger and installed some really great vinyl flooring. I love it. Came molded to fit, just had to trim edges and it came with new sound and heat insulation

Ahhh, you have a SuperCab. I'm jealous. You probably have a nice long bed too

My 87 F-150 has hard plastic on the floors. Which is fine until it's rainy/muddy and you climb in. Have to be careful not to go flying when you step and your foot moves.

However, for cleanliness and easy of use, I prefer it. Just wish it was something more textured (though I think the plastic was grippier when it was new). Maybe like a rough rhino lining with a lot of texture.

Yeah. Because in my Maverick I've got the full coverage floor mats, so almost none of the carpet is visible. Except a little bit in front of the driver seat since I have my seat far enough back.

And yet some people complain that they have to push a button to turn on the cruise control, or another button 4 times to get to eco mode. I agree, some people are spoiled and just plain lazy.
