Does anyone else wish they could ask the people who came up with this Maverick concept, "why did you do it that way?" ? I'm always asking questions about anything and everything? Drives my people crazy! But I read alot of comments and gripes about some things that makes little sense as to why it is the way it is. So, wouldn't it be nice to query the engineers and concept people at FMC as to why they did it that way and if they could do it over how could they improve on this Maverick? What would your question be? It'd be so cool if FMC would consider polling Maverick owners who've had the pleasure of living with one for a bit what their feedback is. Best part of being an owner for me? Actually haveing one! Worst part for me? Waiting over 13 months and reading about all those who already had one in their possesion! What would you as an owner do differently?

Regret nothing. Sometimes I look at my happy cat sleeping under the flowers and wish I could have such peace (not saying what the mice and chipmunks have to say).
I would have ordered the Maverick sooner and not gotten married to this woman. Ah, well.

Sounds like you need to be a part of the focus groups that all large manufacturers do. But yes, @kingranchero posts are golden.

I've had those thoughts about lots of things. I've spent my life running John Deere 7720 combines. I'm sure they're all dead now, but I've always swore my goal in life was to find the engineer that designed them and kick that s.o.b. square in the nuts.

I'd love to ask Honda why our Integra - with its 6-speed manual and electronic parking brake - will not automatically set the e-brake when you turn the car off. Had many other cars that did this, cannot figure out why this one doesn't (unless auto brake hold is switched on). Weirdly, the automatic version has a setting to enable this but the manual one does not.

1st week of ownership I stepped out of the car and was like "why is it moving?". Rolled like 3 feet before I realized what was happening and stopped it. My mistake, sure, but stupid programming.

Why not more fits locations?
And.. why not have them so accessories can 'lock in' with a retainer tab like just about every electrical connector on the truck? OR why not offer a smaller FITS connector for common accessories to mount like dashcams, toll passes, dedicated GPS units to mount to the windshield header/a-pillar? Or why not offer a switch pod like they do on the Bronco/F-Series for accessory power? Or... I got a million of em...

Offer a V8 as an option!
Unless you have some super secret extremely fuel efficient V8 that Ford can mass produce (Yes, I have seen the YouTube video where they fit a lawnmower carburetor to a V8), then it will not be option in the Maverick. There are federal rules that covered fuel economy vs. vehicle size.

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a36697224/ford-maverick-had-to-be-a-hybrid/

"It comes down to how the government calculates fuel economy targets for light trucks. It’s a convoluted and somewhat contradictory voodoo formula that applies different efficiency standards to vehicles based upon their “footprint.” That is basically, the area a vehicle occupies – its length multiplied by its track width. The bigger shadow a truck casts, the easier the fuel economy standards it must meet. It’s a method of regulation that’s practically killed the regular cab pickup truck and made introducing smaller trucks, until the Maverick, a virtual impossibility."

I am going to opine the FITS were an afterthought to appeal to the younger demographic. It is really not a well thought out or refined idea.

Hope you are enjoying your Mav! The production delays are unfortunately as infuriating and almost as much of a mystery to me. We definitely did not expect certain options and the Hybrid to be as popular as they became, and Hermosillo is simply constrained by the parts available. I know everyone hates that answer but that is largely what is at play here.

Ford does watch social media and this forum, so if you have a wish list of improvements this is definitely the place to share them.

FITS locations near the driver are largely hamstrung by legal department. Something something driver distraction  I would love to see FITS in the back of the headrests, along with a USB C plug-in - similar to Rivian.

I only have one question I’d ask the engineers. Why do I have to keep pressing the button to switch to eco mode every time I turn on the Maverick? I know the technology is out there to keep it in the last mode selected, as I had that on my 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. Was it that much more to install it on the Maverick?

Other than that, I’ve had a hybrid Maverick since 27 January. The first one I had was a hybrid XL I found in Gastonia, NC. When I ordered a hybrid XLT lux and CP in VB on 15 Oct, I was told 8-12 weeks before it goes into production. I knew it was going to be longer than that after I found this chat board. On 31 March, one of the dealers I had contacted when I was searching for a Maverick called me and said a hybrid XLT with lux in VB just rolled off the truck that a customer canceled. I traded in the XL. As for my original order of a hybrid XLT with lux and CP that I ordered on 15 October, well, I still don’t have it. I received a production letter from Ford on 22 Aug for a 19 Sept build week. Then I received pushback emails for 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, and now 10/31. And worst yet, the dealer removed both the lux and CP, leaving the Mav a bare bones XLT. No hitch, no bed liner of any sort, and no other options that come with a lux pkg on an XLT. I told him I won’t be taking delivery of that one.
