Oh, remembered something, not saying it's definite, but historically, green pigments have required a lot of copper annnnnd...

copper-price-april-1-to-july-23-2025.png
It was ALWAYS intended to be a one yeah only color. It’s as simple as that. Ford has another color (I think it’s a shade of red) that they charge extra for. But they didn’t charge extra for the eruption green. They simply said it was a one year only offering. They have another color that’s one year only for 2026
Ford has already announced that eruption green will not be available on the 26. Google 2026 Maverick, it's all there.
Exactly! It was announced at the BEGINNING of 2025 that it was a one year only color. So it's not a new decision

1st car was 62 Falcon in high school. While commutkng to college, picked up a 62 SAAB with the 3 cyl 2 stroke. Got the strangest looks from gas station attedants back then when I would reach into the back seat for a can of oil and tell them to put it in the tank with 8 gal of gas. Almost always has to explain that it was a 2 stroke
motor. Friends called the SAAB, the pregnant jellybean. Lol.
There was a dark blue available for 23--- can't remember the name of it. Dropped it for 24, so I went with Hot Pepper Red, which was also a one year colour.

Nothing new nor uncommon. Pretty sure they've had one year only colors since the truck was introduced.

Actually the 24 blue is darker than the 23 blue. Really wanted the 23 blue as I like a bright vehicle (easier to find in parking lot), but settled for the 24 when I ordered it. 1st blue vehicle I have ever owned and I bought my 1st car in 1966. As I type, I am out in the garage polishing the truck. Hood and front fenders done. Waiting on the front bumper to dry so I can wipe it off. That's all for today. Got the truck end of Sept last year. Only found two tiny chips on the bumper, none on the hood (dealer put hood protector on it before I picked it up) as well as a 1/4" by 1/2" scrape on the edge of the bumper on the passenger side by the wheelwell. I imagine I will find more as I continue.

They got me to buy a new car.
My 2001 was green and I drove it for over 20 years until I replaced it with an Area 51 First edition Hybrid Maverick.
the 2025 refresh was nice but it was the green that sealed the deal.

I like my EG Mav, but I wish the color was a little deeper and closer to candy apple green. I have always wanted a truck that color since seeing it on a Chevy 5 windows pickup. Never had the money to get a custom paint job like that.
You probably know this, but "candy apple" is a type of applying two different colors: a metallic/sparkly undercoating (typically gold, but can be many shades including silver, brass, copper, etc.), and then spraying a colored 'veil' over that initial coloration. It's more complicated than a single color (if done correctly), and requires a little more skill.

I come from the world of guitars, and find the "planned obsolete"/"special run" of colors .... quite familiar. It goes both ways with guitars - some people are really turned off by the "bUY nOw Or LOsE fOReVEr" marketing; others love the aspect of "hey look at what's in THIS box of Crackerjack!"

In 3-4 years, there will be at least 4-5 more small hybrid trucks in the NA market, and I am not at all a "Ford guy" - even though my last 3 cars have been Fords. What's that mean? Make it look good, Ford. IMO more colors = more potential customers when you are selling this many cars. If this was 20,000 vehicles a year, I'd feel differently.

When I first heard the name, Eruption Green, I thought of puke. Keep the color, change the name.
My first thought was that it is was "Erection Green" and I thought that sounded like a good deal... After seeing one in the "flesh" so to speak, I was left with a lot less "desire"!!!:crackup:

Green is just not popular. According to Edmonds statistics 81% of new vehicle sales are made up of these 4 colors: White @ 25%, Black @ 22%, Grey @ 20%, and Silver @ 14%. No other color tops 10%. Ford is not going to discontinue a popular color. ✌
The only reason why 81% were those four colours was because that's all they offered. Nice having something different. We got programmed to white, black silver, and different shades of grey, and the two choices for interior colours, black or grey.

I'm sure some of you may have heard about the NASCAR story and green cars??? Some drivers won't drive a green painted/wrapped car because of this legend: In 1910, Lee Oldfield was driving a green car in a race at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. His car went off the track and killed several bystanders. Ten years later, in 1920, Gaston Chevrolet (brother of Louis Chevrolet, the car company founder) was killed in a crash during an automobile race in Beverly Hills, California. As the story goes, the car he was driving happened to be green. Thus, according to legend and superstition, this pair of events means that green race cars are indeed unlucky. However, some racers and racing fans believe the superstition goes back even before the 1910 and 1920 incidents (even though no one seems willing to offer up a plausible alternative theory).

I got cactus grey because it was a leftover 24, hybrid with the options I wanted. Desert sand was my first choice, cactus grey second and eruption green third. Must say, the gray doesn’t show dirt or film. I’ve also had several compliments on the color.
My 2025 is Desert Sand and it also doesn't show dirt or water spots like dark colors do.

My ONE regret is that my dealership didn't have an eruption Green Maverick on the lot. I would have certainly chosen it. Instead I ended up getting the white one which was not my first, second, or third choice for color. But it has the black appearance package. So that keeps it from looking like a fleet vehicle at least 😅. But if I had gotten that eruption green, I would have really really preferred it I could have had them search for one at another dealership. But I didn't have time to wait because I was spending all my money on a rental car since my previous car have been totaled

Yeah I've walked onto lots 3 years back when I was last shopping and it's been white, black and gray, and asked "Don't you have any colors?" and got told, "you can't buy a color, there's less resale value in a color" ummmkay, so they are actually having to TELL people they don't want a color rather than there being a real free choice.

Seems like a popular color.
For years, Green was called "GRAMPA GREEN!" The word Maverick, and Grampa don't belong together. we are "wild, and crazy " guys (even though a lot of us are grampas)

My theory is they want to introduce a greenish version of grey and need the leftover eruption green paint.

Seriously, most of the greys Ford offers looks like they mixed all their leftover paint together. They stopped offering Atlas Blue and their "leftover paint" grey color has a slightly bluer tint this year...
