I traded in my 2018 F150 XLT for my hybrid Maverick. My F150 was my first truck and I loved it, but I am now retired, moved to a new location (SC) and no longer need such a large truck with 4x4. I bought the hybrid, my first, for the gas mileage and am loving it!

I wanted better mpg. The regenerative braking is really nice too. I feel way more in control of my speed.

I want a brand new vehicle that's only 22K and gets 50mpg. But I'm learning that that is just a fantasy cause Ford has no intention of selling me one.;)

Why the hybrid?

1) because it can be flat towed behind our motor home. The EB can not be.
2) to have a place to haul our bikes.
3) better fuel economy will only be a little better than we are getting now.
4) upgrade to a newer vehicle

Why Hybrid? My previous primary vehicle was also a hybrid, and I loved driving it, but it was faster than the Maverick. Still like the Maverick Hybrid for it's utility.
  1. Lower fuel costs, it's a daily driver that also gets work use
  2. eCVT transmission, no jerky shift points, just very smooth all the time
  3. I don't need to tow a 4k trailer, ever, 2k more than enough
  4. My old hybrid car was 14 years old, it was time for something new, and I've needed a truck for a while, just couldn't justify owning one with the fuel consumption they have.

I’ve never owned or driven a hybrid vehicle before. So I’m looking for input from current owners.

Why did you opt for the hybrid over the ecoboost powertrain?

What benefits other than fuel savings does a hybrid offer?
..
I dislike turbo charged and gas direct injected engines. Oil dilution from fuel and coked up intake valves; no thanks. Plus the eCVT in the hybrid is rock solid and a truly great transmission. The best transmission I've ever had, and I've had manual, torque convertor and dct, it beats them all.
..

I chose the Maverick because I’ve been waiting for a smaller affordable truck for a long time. I Chose the hybrid for the mpgs. My current car has the same mpg rating as the EB Fwd with 90 less hp and I only average 23-24 mpg since most of my driving is considered city. There’s no way it will get better with the EB lol.

Always have had the smaller mid-sized trucks and loved them for their versatility. But what sold me and the top factor to me is the ability to flat-tow the hybrid version behind my Class C motorhome. The Maverick Hybrid is a super all-around vehicle for everything I do and great gas mileage...a 4-door hybrid to house the grandkids, to a neat little pickup. Right now there is nothing on the market that checks all these boxes. Sold my 2026 Nissan Frontier that hardly managed 15mpg (and got $1K less than I paid for it) and my 88 Suzuki Samurai that I towed behind the RV and more than paid for my FE Maverick in Rapid Red! Only issue is the grabby brakes at slow speeds. But overall we love it so far!

It’s what my wife wanted to save fuel because she drives more retired than working. Also we never owned a hybrid much less ever drive one. At 40.1 mpg she’s happy!!

First got a small used Prius for the in town doctor visits that was hard to park a full sized Silverado. Then the Pandemic hit and stopped using the Silverado for remote ranch work. Got a great offer for it then sold it. Month later the Maverick was announced. So second hybrid. Family member wants to buy the aged Prius for work in Austin.
So will be only the Maverick. It does more than the Silverado ever did on the ranch. Better than the riding lawnmower with attached hauling trailer. Lower sides than Silverado helps a lot more than expected.

Wanted good gas mileage with decent space at reasonable price. Could have been an SUV or small van/wagon. When this came out with hybrid as base model it was no brainier. Most hybrids you have to go to higher trims and spend more.
Plus I like the idea of a less complicated transmission of an eCVT compared to regular transmission, a lot fewer moving parts

Being in California and suffering $6/gallon this past summer, Hybrid is the way to go. 95% of my driving is city and my 2 sold vehicles (99 ranger 3.0 and SRT4) were gas guzzlers around town. I thought abt fx4 and 4k but most likely won’t utilize those features.

1.Mostly because the idiots that drive energy and economic policy in this country have made what I would really rather drive unaffordable.
2. It will fit in my garage.
