I'll have people ask me at the gas station, but that's about it. There's still only like 3 Mavericks total in the area I live so they're definitely hard to come by.

Once at home depot in almost 12 months, nothing otherwise. People around here just don't care about cheap vehicles, every drives big expensive stuff. Most of the truck guys point and laugh when they see it.

I think the idea of a small efficient truck is totally lost on several generations who have never experienced any budgetary restraints or shortages in their entire pampered, and indebted, life.

Many of us are old enough to remember the bloated land yachts of the late 70’s right before reality, and OPEC, caught up with them.
Those vehicles became a pariah to us.

Now, several generations are driving trucks and SUV’s that dwarf the old full sized vehicles and I don’t think many of them have a clue what the average vehicle used to be like.

Like my '72 Chrysler Newport. Manual windows (the New Yorker was the luxury model with power windows). The car was so big that if I wanted to roll down the passenger window I had to pull over first because my head would dip below the dash if I tried to reach for it while driving. Fuel economy so bad you could actually see the needle move as you were driving.

The pic is not mine, just an example:

All I know is that it was too big for me. After that car I decided to buy smaller cars from that point forward. Personally my reaction to the Mav when it was delivered was that it was kind of bigger than I hoped it would be, because I bought it online without test driving one.

I was at my local Wawa parked next to a lifted Dodge power wagon with 37's. Two guys came out of the store and gave me thumbs up and giggled a little and said "cute " I laughed and knew they were trying to mock me . They backed out of the paring space and "bam " ! I pulled out and figure they hit sign post which they did but also caught the front corner of a Honda Civic. I gave them thumbs up and giggled a little myself as I left the parking lot. That was a start of a very good day ! Bret

Hope this finds everyone safe and well. Anywho, I was curious if any of you have been getting your Maverick a good looking over by someone. I was at a light yesterday and a guy in a black Jeep Gladiator rolled up next to me. As if being Cyber Orange wasn't enough, he seemed to focus on my blacked-out hood with the "Powered by Ecoboost" decals. And then he slowly rolled forward, damn near face against his window looking over my Mav trying to catch sight of the front. When the light changed and a casually took off, he hung back and, in my rear view mirror, was checking out the rear as if trying to comprehend the truck. He finally accelerated and slowly passed me by with a brief wave. Sizing up the competition, I guess.

I'm sure you all have some such experiences as well.
Yes .. I have had quite a few people look at my Mav and say what is that truck something new by Ford never seen one before .. yep it is lol

Old people at Costco.
Same for me but old people at Home Depot/Lowes.

A few days ago as I was leaving HD, an older couple was walking back to their car. They stopped in the middle of the lane to stare as I backed up and pulled out of my spot. I think they had no idea what it was lol.

I'll talk to anyone who asks about the Maverick. I've had a few ask about what gas mileage I'm getting. Gotta get the word out (y)

It looks like we are from the same generation. I have the same observations. Anyhow, since I am retired, I don't get around that much and haven't had too many comments. When I do get them, I always make the point that it gets over 40 MPG, consistently. It is garage kept, so my neighbors don't see it too often either.
New subject: I ordered mine without a sunroof. I have had them in previous vehicles that I bought from the lot and had no use for them, so why pay for one on my custom order? I suspect that I am in the minority, and that's fine. That's what custom orders are for.

Interesting, and surprising mostly. Here in the upper Midwest I feel like a mobile zoo exhibit. It has settled down lately but the first year I was either getting tracked down in the parking lot or stopped after getting out. Questions, walk arounds and even peak-ins. Average conversation around 10 minutes. Mostly middle aged men or older. They want the technical details and what Ford named the paint (area 51). My female customers, they all comment on how "pretty" the color is. It cracks me up I just say thanks. So all this time I've been driving around in a pretty truck. Great! I'm too old to care about that anymore. If I ordered another one, i'd stay with the same color.

I just finished answering all of the questions from an inquisitor at CVS. Told him it was perfect for an urban person. Can haul when needed and the rest of the time screws the oil companies.
Unfortunately the last thing I told him was that if he wanted one the purchase needed to be planned out. If you are desperate for a vehicle it doesn’t work. You will need to wait a year and a half to get one.
