To emphasize a point, do not base your true MPG for either model on the dash display. The only true measure is to manually divide miles driven since your last fill up by gallons of gas purchased. That reading has always been less than the display on mine. The last tank showed over 42 MPG on display but was actually 38. The Maverick hybrid is listed as having a 13.6 gallon tank but it is definitely larger than that, which may add to the discrepancy. But still great results for either choice.
The on-board display is no doubt optimistic, they all are. Nonetheless, we are getting 700 or more miles on most tanks, which is ~50mpg hand calculated. Based on our experience, the on-board display in our VW jetta has a higher range of error.

Wow...8 pages of mindless blabber. Y'all must be really suffering from the heat. 🥵 Ask me if I give a poop. All I know is my Maverick gets me from point A to point B and looks pretty in red. :giggle:

The back and forth on merits of hybrid vs eco can go on all day but if you WANT AWD the discussion is over!
I fixed your quote for you! Almost no one has to have AWD. I went for years in West Virginia with two wheel drive vehicles ( rwd and fwd) in some rather inclimate weather. But, yes, AWD is a nice option and has advantages even when not off road or in deep snow.

If you HAVE to HAVE a Hybrid, then no matter if the EcoBoost got 60 mpg it simply will NOT do the job the Hybrid can do.

The way I look at it is if I wanted a Hybrid, I would have got one. I got the AWD 4k EB because it's what I wanted and needed. I don't care about MPG's, but the EB still does better than any other truck currently on the market. Mavericks are great at the pump all around. I enjoyed the Escape Hybrid I had before it at the pump and the lifted Tacoma that got 15MPG at best on the trails. This is me bridging the gap.

But it's funny how personal the Hybrid owners take it. You don't insult their MPG's.... it's all they got 😄
Majority can't handle sarcasm from threads like these. They'll challenge you to a duel.

I accept.

I totally agree. As a Hybrid owner I can't see getting worked up about justifying my decision.

But I also don't understand the number of posts and comments making the case that a Hybrid doesn't make sense.

Personally I think we all need to focus on the few loud mouths that still say "but it's not a truck."

I didn’t need a hybrid but I have a hard time letting go so here we are… lonely, truckless, and unable to move on.

Agreed. I had someone at the dealership the other day refer to it as a "ute". I can see that I guess. I've had everything from a 4 door Escort, to a Mustang, to an F-150, a Tacoma and a Subaru Crosstrek... so I guess all that's left is a van lol. I can officially scratch "not a truck" off my list now.

I'll die before I drive a van though :ROFLMAO:

I'm glad I'm not the only one pulling some really decent mileage out of my FWD EB. Twice so far on the back roads of GA I've pulled an astonishing 39mpg.

Do camper vans count? I'd get one of those if that lottery money starts rollin' in.

We'll have to take a poll from the crowd on that one. I'm going to go with "not really". I'd still classify it as a camper in general, or recreational vehicle. If I hit the lottery, I'd be in one of those tour bus sized campers lol. Living it up all over the place with big enough tanks to go remote for a long time with a full size fridge/kitchen/shower/bed etc etc and still get Starlink while doing it 😉

Love my ' 23 hybrid. No recalls and only issues are the bed is a little short and the back seat fills up with stuff. And I forget which side the filler is on because I so rarely stop at the gas station
..
I am fully aware but apparently my humor is lost on many here at MTC. I was bustin‘ the OP’s balls because he mentioned several times the hybrid recalls and issues. Oh the issues…..my, my, whatever shall I do.

hybrid awd will just decrease the MPG - the primary reason why someone would buy a hybird - add to it that an AWD will cause a price increase and all of a sudden economically you may as well just buy an ecoboost.
YES, it will get lower MPG than the front wheel Drive only Hybrid, but it will get BETTER / HIGHER MPG than the All Wheel Drive Non-Hybrid. So for some, that is the winning combination.

I would ALWAYS Buy the AWD Hybrid over the FWD Hybrid for my needs (Upstate New York Winters).

The added price and slightly lower MPG are factored in, and still, it is the way I would go.

Everybody has a different situation. Different motivations. Different wants and needs.

Here's what I really want: A Maverick Plug-In Hybrid, AWD that get's at least 40 Miles all electric Range.

Will it cost more, YES ! Is it worth the additional Costs ? YES, For my situation.

This thread reminds me so much of a scene from a Monty Python movie, where the father of the groom laments "let's not get all caught up in who killed who"... or something to that effect.

The fact is that the EcoBoost is a terrifically fuel efficient small truck, that rides like an SUV. The only competition out there is (drum roll) the Maverick Hybrid. I have some of both - and I think they are modern marvels of automotive engineering. They have all been absolutely flawless. Yes there is an open recall for side airbags, which I will ignore.

Yes, the Hybrid gets even more amazing fuel economy. The EcoBoost also runs like a scalded cat. And you can't take that away from me.

Can't we all just learn to get along?

WRONG when stating the Maverick Ecoboost model, then the Hyundai Santa Cruz is competition. At least in the real world.
