I fill up at somewhere between 1/4 and 1/8 tank, but tend to let it get lower on highway trips than I do around town where fill-ups are more convenient. My current daily driver has about 30 miles left until dry when the light comes on, so that can make for some anxious moments on highway trips when you get to that point.

I ran out of gas once around 1997 and swore I'd never do that again. I was lucky and had my mountain bike on the rack on the back of the car at the time and only had to ride about 1/2 mile down the state highway I was on to the closest gas/convenience station.

If you live in a hot weather climate you should not let it go below 1/2 too often ... reason being that - although there are built-in measures to let vapors escape - sometimes vapors build up to a point that it starts triggering "sensors" which in turn start generating random "error/failure" messages which causes can never be properly troubleshooted but end up causing some unneeded aggravation (and potential expense) before the "problem" resets itself or goes away and it is attributed to "gremlins".

'Vapors' have no more possible effect at any tank level.

I'm definitely B, it seldom gets under 3/4 tank. That ends up usually being good for the week so easy to hold to.

None of the above. I gas up every Friday when I stop to get groceries. Doesn't matter if I am at half a tank, which is pretty normal, or 3/4. This is in my Edge, I haven't gotten my Maverick yet, so that could change to every other week since the mpg will be over twice what my Edge is.

In my 22 years of driving I’ve noticed there are 4 kind of people in the world of how they fill or don’t fill their vehicles… are you….

A) Wait till the gas light comes on and top off?
B) Top off after 3/4 tank?
C) The one that never puts more than 10 bucks worth?
D) Rides around on E most of the time putting 5 bucks in randomly

I personally lean towards being A.

Sadly I know a lot of people that ride around on E and never bat an eye lol
E) whenever I go to Costco.

Fill at half a tank. When traveling I search for gas at a quarter tank.

I like to keep the tank filled. Never know when you need to bug out.

I test drove a used Maverick before buying new. I don't remember the model year, when we took off it said I had 47 miles to empty (I don't remember seeing the fuel light on) and we made it about 1/4 mile before we ran out of gas. I plan to one day see how far I can get on a tank but I'm going to have a 5-gallon gas can in the truck. I'm a B.
Was it a Hybrid? I'm wondering if it had been running in electric mode a lot or if someone had stolen siphoned off some gas and the sensor just isn't low enough in the tank to recognize something changed.
