Hope he made it !
Exactly why I relocated the Ecu /ecm from that lower left wheel well to above the fuse panel in the engine compartment!.

I hope it’s at least fresh water, and not any salt water/storm surge. I would never attempt that, especially after taking a close look underneath our hybrid and seeing all the electrical that's exposed (including behind the big splash panels). Maybe they had a true emergency.

I see over 5 Mavericks a lot of day around The Villages. I hope that was not a Hybrid in the water.

Mine has too many holes in the bed and floorboards to float at all I’m afraid.
I vividly remember patching the floorboards of my Karmann Ghia with large soup cans and a brazing torch. That thing was a rolling tin can death trap. I miss the insanity that was cars in the 1960s. And I don't miss it. At the same time.

Seriously underrated comment here. Our Mavericks have literal holes in the floor boards so that the B&O package can use it as a trailer trash bandpass box.
Not to mention the air vent behind the back seat that has a little paper filter.

You’re right. Reuters is running the same photo and they mentioned the location. It is “Shore Acres neighborhood located on the Tampa Bay”.
Shore Acres goes underwater quite frequently. That dumbass should know better.

Reminded me of this...

I followed this saga most of the way and it was insane how much water, sand, and slime they found inside that car... over the span of MONTHS.

Saw this photo on CNN, but they don’t mention where it was taken. Stay safe out there.

Unless it was an extreme emergency I wouldn’t do this in my Florida Tremor.
As far as Mavericks in Florida, they are getting popular with us old guys that don’t need towing or heavy hauling anymore. 600 home senior community and see 4 or 5 in here. (Ormond Beach)
We have three in our neighborhood, of low priced homes in East DeLand, I would think that that's an isolated incident but we drove though water that high towing the camper in Maine last summer before they closed the roads due to flooding.

If it's a hybrid, with those batteries... I'm thinking disaster (if not now, later). I'm sure they're built to be resistant to water but not submersible?
HV battery is sealed.

It has a cooling loop with fluid and I haven't seen any posts showing fluid leaking out from the battery.
