Theres a bit more to it than that. I ordered an XLT before I knew about the Forscan and wheel swap. Keeping mine an XLT. I see it this way. Paying XL price for an XLT
I see it this way... XL with free AWD, and no orange interior plastic.

😃

What else does the XLT offer?

Orange plastic dont bother me. I was gonna do an XL. For that price I upgraded. I decided I could be less Pinche' since I already budgeted for an XL AWD 4K before this deal. I plan on upgrading to katzkin leather seats. They are not available on XL. No rear seat fold down armrest on that one. To each their own.

Besides the obvious, XLT has the following benefits
- Back seat fold down arm rest / cup holder, for those with kids / frequent rear passengers
- Access to FX4 package, which is huge value at XLT trim
- Access to some colors (not for me though)

FX4 from what I can tell is mainly struts, wheels and some extra modes. While it's nice, I don't see the Maverick in any trim as a true off road vehicle. I would imagine the community will unlock the extra modes through forscan... just need AWD hardware.

I have a theory that AWD XL with 360 and 4K tow package will be able to add all XLT FX4 features for about $1500.

Actually the XLT luxury package is what I see as the only reason to get the XLT over the XL. Heated seats, wheel and mirrors are more than just a luxury in sub-zero climes.

$1,500 would be highly optimistic. Off the bat, you can't do the tow hooks - the integration point is not on the body of the non-FX4 builds. Wheels are not inexpensive either, and the suspension is a different design. Then you have a full set of skid plates and finally a different gauge cluster. If you want the FX4 options, there is actually a lot of value in that package at the XLT trim level.

I liked the wheels and larger cluster enough to opt for it (even took a chance, because my wife couldn't stand the ride of the fx4 in my 19 ranger). Turns out the ride is fantastic, I love it and no complaints from my better half!

i was under the truck and took a look, and I dont even know WHERE I would trust putting tow hooks.... The Skid plates are easy to fabricate for cheap though.

You sure about the suspension? At least one source I read online said they were identical.

I assumed the tow hooks could be added pretty easily (skid plates are simple). That's interesting. Agree the instrument cluster, but that, too, can be added.

Motortrend: On-Road Handling And Performance
"There is so much to love about the Maverick when it comes to the truck's highway ride. But first, it's worth noting that since the FX4 package doesn't change anything in the truck's suspension, whether it's present or not doesn't affect on-road handling beyond the addition of all-terrain tires."

Oh man the FX4 is only $800? Somehow I thought it was a lot more than that. wiithout a doubt, if you go XLT trim that is a no brainer

Tow hooks are as easy to fab as skid plates. However after materials and time involved making and installing you are halfway to FX4 price plus more aggressive 4wd modes and a oil cooler. I ordered it without hesitation.

I'm giving this a go, hopefully it works out. XLT with Lux, 360copilot, sliding rear window. Cactus Grey.

All the heavy duty packages for towing/AWD seem more fitted to a larger truck. But the safety stuff, 8way driver seat with lumbar, heated seats, are really nice for longer trips. Would rather have the hybrid but that's looking like mid 2023 at the earliest, and probably not at MSRP until 2024.

SHOOT...I ordered 12/27 (xl/awd/4k/sunroof), and realize I want 360. Would I lose my spot by adding?!
