What's your alternate plan if your Maverick can't be built for 2023?

The motor is freshened with new gaskets and Im halfway done with the paint, just gotta finish that and put the interior back in. 135hp(with weber carb), 3800lb, AWD, 3500lb tow capacity, ground clearance of a stock jeep XJ. The motor had enough zoot to bark the tires in 2nd gear when it was mated to the 5spd in my old CJ7. If I can ever find a cluct pedal I will put the T5 in it. Or rebuild the 4.0/AX15/NP231 in my spare Comanche. Damn near a bolt in affair once converted to carb. With the manual OD and 29" tires it could get 20mpg hwy.

No heated butt wipers on this one.
Is that a 258? I do like that engine... I have always had carb problems with the carter. Hope that weber works out well for you. 200 + ft lbs of torque even if that hp number is low.

Agreed... the new cr-v is overpriced.
And as far the sportage lacking reverse lights... you can certainly add auxiliary ones.
A Sportage Hybrid optioned the way I want MSRPs at $32,680. With all the additional safety features on vehicles now, serviceable/visible reverse lights should not have to be added after purchase.

Yep an 85 258. It was rebuilt about 10 years ago so its pretty fresh. Webers are great and do pick up the power a bit. Ive never had a stock jeep carb run right nut also never had one leave me stranded either.

I think mine will be to get a 2006-2011 Saab 9-3 SportCombi/9-3X for a "fuel efficient" daily (more fuel efficient than my current daily lmao) and a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro Double Cab/Standard Bed with a bunch of options to basically have all the truck functionality I wanted and brand new vehicle reliability

But I do hope Long McArthur does get enough allocations to get every order built but I think it's hard to say if they will but I think we can all hope for the best but expect the worst.

So yeah that's my plan if I can't get built, what's yours?
I have been waiting 11 months for my '22. Just for the heck of it I ordered a 23.
I don't want to consider my '22 not happening but I'm sweating it.

Update: Yeah, the writing was on the wall back then. Now that I've been converted to a '23 last week the clock starts all over again. And, the angst.

I didn't order the Maverick Lariat for it's truck or towing capability. I have a 2017 F-350 Lariat dually diesel for those. As I ordered the hybrid Maverick I don't need it's fuel mileage. I have a 2020 Escape hybrid Titanium that's averaging 41.7mpg for it's 30k miles.
So if it doesn't get built I'm okay 😁

If they don't build my 2023, I'll order 2024 Maverick hybrid. I don't need a new vehicle now.

Heh yeah I get that lmao
For me, as cool as it would be to use a Maverick for more truck like things I think for like towing, a half ton should be far more than enough for most of what I want to do (which would be just towing a single car (3,500 or so lbs for just the car) and probably chickens (4,000+ for trailer and chickens lol)

Bought a Gen1 Toyota Matrix- it’s cheap and super rad how the seats fold flat, plastic with rails for tie downs. I put a hitch on a bought a Kuat bike rack, we are good to go for a few years as I am cancelling my 2023 rollover. Will ride out this weird economy/ world for a bit then decide in a few years, as vehicles are changing so quickly.

My wife and I currently each drive a 2021 Bronco Sport Outerbanks and they are great. Great mileage, comfortable around town and on long drives. I did an 800 mile drive on one day and felt great when I got home. If the Maverick Lariat Lux we ordered on December 3, 2021 and reordered again as a roll over when the order banks opened last month, my wife will be very disappointed as it her Maverick. If that does occur we will just have to keep driving the Bronco Sports. My dealer said we would get it this year and but now we continue to wait again.

it's kind of funny since last night I was more seriously considering an Acura Integra A-Spec w/ Tech as an alternative if I can't be built this year.

The Liquid Carbon and Red Interior is such a great combo (white and red is nice too, and so is blue and orchid)

I have my Buick promised to my nephew as of last year. Sister breathing down my neck, I might find my nephew a beater.

I would keep my 17 XLT F-150 until 2024, then. It's a good truck, I'm just tempted by the gas mileage and the old Ranger-like size.

With the recent debacle of canceled orders, I am moving on. My family has had terrible luck with Fords so its probably for the best. Have an offer for a Sportage Hybrid LX AWD for MSRP of 30.7K looks to be the plan.
I will keep my order in for the Maverick and $500 deposit. But I realistically think this process is crazy and can't wait 14 months for a vehicle.
