I haven't started my Sportage research yet, can you tell me briefly about the reverse lights? Thanks
Only the little white light in the red circle illuminates when you're backing up.

I would have hoped the area below the brake lights in the yellow circles in that first picture would also be reverse lights.

I think mine will be to get a 2006-2011 Saab 9-3 SportCombi/9-3X for a "fuel efficient" daily (more fuel efficient than my current daily lmao) and a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro Double Cab/Standard Bed with a bunch of options to basically have all the truck functionality I wanted and brand new vehicle reliability

But I do hope Long McArthur does get enough allocations to get every order built but I think it's hard to say if they will but I think we can all hope for the best but expect the worst.

So yeah that's my plan if I can't get built, what's yours?
Toyota Sienna, what ever I can find for the same price.

I kinda wondered if they weren't having a whole lot of BS sales due to them still having a new '22 sitting there and four used ones. Of course he explained the '22 still being there because they "accidentally" forgot to put it in their system so nobody knew it was there to purchase even though it was in their showroom and he obviously knew it was in the computer because he looked it up. Of course we had to buy it quick if we wanted it because now it's in the system and it'll go quick. *Dismissive hand wanking gesture*

Ya, I was not really all that impressed with Alto at all. I lean towards dark colors but they need to "pop" in the sunlight and it just didn't. I really wanted a dark green for the Maverick since my Ram is a forest green metallic with a pearl coat. Looks black till the sun hits it then it's got some depth. Settled on Atlas blue for the Maverick. Best of the dark yet bright choices. We were gonna get that in the Bronco as well but they had a full size Bronco in Eruption Green sitting in the sun. Knew instantly that was the one.
Eruption Green is awesome. I hope it looks just as great on the Sport. So funny story. We ordered Cactus Gray on the Maverick. Nothing else really popped; all kind of boring colors. They had Velocity Blue last year and he thought it looked cartoonish. Well, when I saw they were coming out with Atlas Blue I thought hey, that looks better. I talked him into it. So we already changed the color on our order. Then no kidding, we come out of the grocery and there is a Cactus Gray Ford Ranger right next to us. He’s like I really like that color. Well crap… I reached out to my salesman and we agreed not to change the color yet…I didn’t want him to go through the hassle. That’s actually one thing you can change after the truck gets scheduled; the paint. It would be great to see an Atlas Blue Maverick in person and then I can say SEEEEEEEE…

Since I don't currently own a vehicle and just placed my order for a 23 Maverick, I bought a 22 Tacoma to drive until the Maverick arrives. If it doesn't I'll likely just keep the Tacoma. If it does, I'll see which one I like better and sell the other. But in the meantime, I do have a nice truck to drive!

I'll keep driving my current hybrid crossover. If my rollover Maverick does not get selected for production for another 6 months, I will likely order a new Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport.
Other vehicles I'd considered:
'23 Kia Sportage - ruled out for lack of serviceable, visible reverse lights and honestly it might be slightly too wide for me 🤷
Interesting observation... not usually something i look at it. Do you find it not bright enough?

I guess I'll keep driving my 1987 B2000 longbed that I have had since 1993. I struggle with getting rid of it when the Maverick comes in but only so much garage space.

I don't own one, I looked at one as a possibility when it seemed I wouldn't be getting my '22 Maverick, but ruled it out because I don't want to deal with the hassle/frustration of trying to back out of parking spaces and the fact that the vehicle is in reverse not being visible to others.
That may seem trivial to some, but for me I know that frustration would build over time.
I will say two women I know who each own one (1 hybrid, 1 ICE) didn't even realize they had no real reverse lights and were unconcerned. One even said, "Well it's probably only there to provide light for the back up camera."

Not a deal breaker for me. I rarely drive at night. Still. I'll consider it when looking at the 2023 Sportage. I appreciate the information! It looks like the new and improved CRV Hybrid may also be on my radar.

The price of the 2023 CVR Hybrid is comical. We have a 2022 CRV and would have gotten the Hybrid but you have to get it in AWD,

Agreed... the new cr-v is overpriced.
And as far the sportage lacking reverse lights... you can certainly add auxiliary ones.

A nice used off lease 2019 or 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat so I cqn get the heated seats and electric folding mirrors. I just looked at one today but was a high mileage lease and had 55K on the clock which is a titch too high given they are basically asking the same price as the 30 odd K models.

Well, that is my plan anyhoo.

Ford Maverick What's your alternate plan if your Maverick can't be built for 2023? IMG_2405

The motor is freshened with new gaskets and Im halfway done with the paint, just gotta finish that and put the interior back in. 135hp(with weber carb), 3800lb, AWD, 3500lb tow capacity, ground clearance of a stock jeep XJ. The motor had enough zoot to bark the tires in 2nd gear when it was mated to the 5spd in my old CJ7. If I can ever find a cluct pedal I will put the T5 in it. Or rebuild the 4.0/AX15/NP231 in my spare Comanche. Damn near a bolt in affair once converted to carb. With the manual OD and 29" tires it could get 20mpg hwy.

No heated butt wipers on this one.
