I see the BMW 2.0 turbo has 300 hp. Has anyone actually researched the Maverick motor to see how to get more HP. I've looked at all the you tube videos and it seems the the intercooler is undersized. Anyone modified past the cat for improvements?
Can a BMW 2.0 be optioned to pull a 4,000 trailer? Might be part of the reason 🤔

I have a friend that's part of a group that will rent a track for a day or weekend. These folks are some pretty rich boys and girls. Really beautiful and some exotic cars. Others not so much. My buddy has an older M3 that he knows how to drive. Anyway a few of the folks bought some of these NASCAR race trucks. I guess you could/can get them for a song. And they rip! It used to piss off some of the folks in their exotic and or hopped up sports cars to have a beat up truck blow by them. 😆

I'm pretty sure the transmission has a max HP or torque limit.

I’m no fan of bimmers and such but these are not trucks. They are a race chassis with a body that looks kind of like a pickup.

Clearly, that was not my point.
I was going for the extreme.
I understood what you were saying. The intent of the Maverick and the beemer have two different objectives. My point was with a little tweaking they can and have been changed.
Is that your Pickup in your avitar?

I've read several places the electronic throttle body limits the horsepower, has anyone tried a manual throttle body?
I doubt that'd be feasible as it would take some extensive PCM reprogramming to defeat the safety monitoring of the electronic throttle. Traditionally Ford ETBs have two throttle position sensors to verify against each other and monitor commanded throttle (by the PCM, not necessarily the pedal input) versus actual. A discrepancy would put the vehicle in limp mode.

Yes, a 72 F150 with a 69 428 CJ, 1980, Alamo Drag Way.

Yeah it's not rated for 250 hp and from everything I've read Ford has the computer locked down so you can't overstress the trans.

My experience has been that it's a very quick truck that accelerates and passes effortlessly. It's has power through a wide band of rpms and speeds rather than one sweet spot. It's enough for me and I don't want to risk damaging it with a tune or invalidate my warranty.

Was that a sleeper truck? I had a 1978 F150 with a 4.9 six that was bored over a bit with well built cylinder head, Isky cam, 4 barrel intake, 600 holley, headers, 4 speed & 3.50 locker 9 inch. I never got a chance to take it to the track, but a friend had a 455 SD Trans Am, we did a roll on from 25-90 & he couldn't get past me or even gain on me, it had faded paint & a rusty box & sounded like an airplane at full bore, & if I drove it nice could get 20mpg.

Oh yeah, pretty ugly!
Paid $350 for it with a 360 that had a cracked block. A buddy of mine had a 69 Fairlane Cobra witch is where the 428 came from. Engine was .060 over bored with a lot of piston to cylinder wall clearance, .009”😳
Sounded like a diesel idling when you first started it. Luckily it had forged pistons, I got a best of 14.42@101 on an old crappy track in the middle of a Texas summer 🥵
Not so great by today’s standards but the fastest new Stingray in 1980 would barely break into the 14’s and a 13 second street car would rule back then.
It had a C6, 3.25 open differential with header’s. Leave one black stripe all the way through 1st and half way through 2nd.
Surprised many a Camaro, Mustang etc.
I also had a 76 F100 with a hopped up 6, it was a short bed.

Dan,
My 76 F100 had a worn out 300 that my boss traded me a nice 240 for.
I was working at a machine shop and my best friend was the parts man. Turns out the 240 used 289 2bbl
Pistons so he got me a TRW engine module (kit) but ordered it with 289 .040” 4bbl forged flat tops. I got a Crane Blazer cam, Offey C series intake, Hooker headers, 600 Holley, 4 speed OD from a 1982 Mustang GT and some 3.89 gears in the 9 inch.
Did all the machine work myself, 4 angle valve job, on the 300 head. Which I cut.075” off, decked the block .015”, would turn 6200 pulling all the way.
I had a lot more energy back then, never took it to the track. I do know my old 428 would have totally walked off from it😈
