First time poster here but Ive read a lot of post on this place all good stuff.

I plan on going up to my local dealer and placing an order the 2nd (hopefully lariet 4k awd lux) if the prices don't jump a ton.

But what can i expect when i go? And is there anything i should ask for when they do it?

I know about getting in writing the no price bump on delivery but is there anything else specific i should ask for/about?

And how terrible is the process in general? From the communication Ive had with my local dealer he is just in it for the money/old school salesman, he has no idea when the banks open back up.

All I can think of right now so thanks in advance.

I feel bad for having such an easy experience and short wait. I built a Mav, the salesperson contacted me, I gave my DL and $500, and I got my Mav at MSRP with deposit included 4 months later.

Listen to the podcast in the other thread about questions to ask. It's from a couple days ago. Jump to 39 minute mark there is good data on the questions to ask.

So much depends on your dealership. At Asheville Ford I walked out 5 minutes after I walked in with a signed order listing all costs and fees. My dealership was great.

To summarize Tim from my notes:
  • Ask what the out the door price is. MSRP or is there any markup
  • Ask what the price will be at pickup maybe 9 months later, will I get today's price? Or will there be dealer market adjustments
  • Ask what the total dealer fees are. $500 is reasonable
  • Ask if there are any required dealer add-ons such as tinted windows, paint protection, fabric protection, nitrogen in the tires, undercoating, car alarms, anti-theft, tire protection, loan payment plans, extended warranties. If you want these that's fine but you should not be forced to take them. Generally they are cheaper elsewhere anyway.
  • GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. SIGNED BY SALES MANAGER, NOT SALESPERSON
  • Ask for a copy of the COVP. If there is no COVP there is no order
  • Ask how incentives and rates are locked, at time of order or at time of pickup. There is a screen on the dealer computer that has a button to select incentives by either sale date or protection (order) date
  • Get a copy of the order sheet prepared by the dealer. Signed by sales manager
  • Request a copy of the DORA. This will be available 1 to 2 days after the order is placed so you will need to ask salesperson to either send it to you or tell you when it comes in
Tim was pretty clear than any competent dealer will do all of the above without you having to ask. If they don't, well, then you need to either insist they do or walk away.

Your experience should be the norm.

And note that for Maverick, COVP might be called ROVP. Same thing. They will have to submit a copy of your driver's license and a copy of the signed buyer's order for the COVP/ROVP.

About the incentives: the button to select incentives is after the vehicle is available after the vehicle is already invoiced. Basically it is an easy way for the dealer to compare the 2 choices for incentives: protection/order date, or sale date. You'll want to ask if the dealer will offer you the choice between these two incentive packages.

The only rates that will be locked will be special "subvened" rates by Ford Credit (i.e. 0% or 1.9%). Standard Ford credit rates (or rates from other banks) generally can't be locked/protected.

Also ask them to include your email address in WBDO so you get scheduling/production updates from Ford.

You should jump on that offer from Chapman. Best deal you’re likely to get!

Same experience but 8 months. No complaints
And OP... you can expect to put up with what you'll tolerate, as in life.
