How could you not read all the stories here of dealer markups, confused orders, multi-month delays, holes drilled in gas tanks, and all the other traumas involved and not shake your head in disgust. How did trying to buy a vehicle become such a $hit$h0w? Obviously this new Order Model of doing business isn't working. One would think Ford would see this is severely tarnishing their image. It was bad enough having to haggle with dealers when making a deal on vehicles already on the lot. This system is far worse. I've done business with street vendors in third-world countries who are more honorable! When are you gonna take charge Ford?!!
The beauty is - you don't have to deal with Ford or buy a Maverick.

A vehicle is comprised of 30,000+ individual parts, somewhere in the range of 1,500 "assemblies", a worldwide pandemic, part constraints, and the ability to ala carte a vehicle build down to the mud flaps.....expectations need to reflect all of this. I think the only area Ford should do better with is some sort of broadcast updates tailored to the people waiting. From what I can tell, the biggest gripe everyone has is the lack of the "Amazon effect" {i.e., Alexa, where is my stuff?}.

It wasn't long ago we couldn't find toilet paper, which has few moving parts. Demand was high supply was low and because of things going on, production could not be increased that much because we didn't have enough people. Now multiply that by how many parts are in the Maverick.

I ordered in June, got regular communication from Ford, my truck got built in November and Ford continues to update me on the likely delivery date. I feel like Ford has lived up to my expectations completely. The transport bottlenecks aren't Ford's fault.

It would be great if those of us that have vehicles waiting a couple hours from us for several weeks could just go get them, but I understand why we can't. If the transport situation doesn't improve, I would think that auto manufacturers will find a way to improve logistics.

I just bought new tires for my motorcycle.. got one from California and the other from Missouri.. nobody even had a complete set in stock. The fact that Ford built a whole vehicle for me in the climate is impressive!

Congratulations to all who the system worked for or those who actually worked the system. You will never convince we unfortunate souls who ordered in June /July and still do not have a scheduled build date that Ford's system doesn't blow big time. Constraints and allocations aside orders should be first in first out. Luckily I don't need the vehicle soon and my hope is that GM or ram or VW or anyone else will offer something similar for a reasonable price. Until then I wait. Let's go Ford.

A customer of mine is a farmer his $450,000 John Deere combine broke down. No dealer in the US had that part in stock. He drove 1300 miles to the John Deere factory in Illinois and picked up the only one in captivity. He had to send a Bank Money order and the local dealer had to pull some strings. All for a $500 part. We've got a mess and will just have to work out of it, hopefully.

The last time you wrote this same thing (blaming the gas tank problem on being built in Mexico) I replied with a link showing that Tesla just recalled almost half a million cars (built in California in a non-union plant).

I really looked forward to your explanation of why recalls of Mexican-built vehicles should be blamed on Mexico, but recalls of USA-built vehicles shouldn't be blamed on the USA.

Sadly, you never responded.

Don't forget about the dumbasses buying up a years worth in one trip.

I doubt anyone is hoarding Mavericks. 😛
