Well the XL is largely a black interior, and there is the BAP option for other trims.

I was happy to hear Atlas was replacing velocity. That couple shades darker makes all the difference.
I was referring to the color of most plastic pieces inside.

IMO it's a disincentive to get an XL in addition to streamlining the build process. Just like Azure Gray as a replacement is to max profit for one of the most popular colors, Area 51. I'm fine with it honestly because Ford needs to make a % of profit on each vehicle(except of EV's obviously the push of which is ludicrous). I don't blame them for trying to maximize it, even if I'm not a fan of how they're doing it.

I might just black out all mine anyway. I have done it before, and had great results changing colors. No idea why ford used any blue in a Maverick XL or Lariat.

Because Ford is blue oval. Blue is their favorite.

But outside of Navy Pier interiors, they haven't used blue inside for decades.

Two things:
  1. Easier to be a not be a popular color when it's not an option.
  2. Upper right are people who live in the South. Lower right are people who never lived in the South.
Yes, southerners are obsessed with light colors. I had many black vehicles, but now don't buy black because of the upkeep to keep it looking clean. I'm the guy wearing all black on 100 degree days. Doesn't bother me. That said, from what I've seen, Atlas blue was #1 in 2023 Maverick orders. At least retail orders. Very popular color, and not another shade of the white to black group.

Very possible that the only people really ordering those colors were fleet buyers in the first place.
Could also be a carrot on a stick to get you to upgrade to the XLT.
plenty of individuals ordered CG (including me) it is a very popular color.

The Green's, Brown's, Beige's and Orange's are really small in the popularity chart. Seems like that would be a negative for resale? But in the end, if you like a color that's all that matters, different strokes for different folks.

I love Eruption Green, but the hype/desire of having it on the Maverick is beyond me. Green exterior with blue interior? 🤮

I am also a bit biased, I will order the Terrain color if my '23 doesn't get build lol
in terms of general popularity - green comes in at about 3 percent.

their original pitch for the Mav was a low cost basic good looking hybrid at a great price. Now lumping on options that a good chunk of people neither wanted or needed at an additional cost and then limiting the colors choices = Ford has a (not) better idea.

I flunked Logic 101, but sure seems strange to drop two of your most popular colors (Area 51 and Alto Blue), move other popular colors around, and expect consumers to be happy. Maybe I did pass and the person making those decisions flunked. Too long ago for me to remember. I guess there is now a shortage of pigment to go in paint. Way to go, Ford.

And a dark blue. My ‘23 order is Alto Blue; for ‘24 I‘m going with Carbonized Gray, although I would have loved the F150’s Denim/Blue Jean blue option. The Atlas blue is just too showy for my tastes but I’ve seen a lot of pictures on this site where people are hugely proud of their Atlas blue and it looks great for them.
I have a Carbonized Gray presently and love it with the XL interior. If I order a '24, I may go CG again. Depends on color choices.
