That might work. I noticed it was worse (wetter on passenger carpet) when the mav was parked and sat through a rain storm.
Interesting, next time it’s forecasted I’ll have to park outside. I’d rather know about this early and get dealer to fix under warranty.

This is horrific. I've just learned that I have the same leak. Dealers can't get me in to fix!
Good morning. Would you please send over a private message with your VIN and dealer info so I can look into this concern on my end?

I have a '23 hybrid XLT purchased last October also with a water leak somewhere. The smell is horrible but I haven't been able to locate wet spots on carpet. I have an appointment at dealer next week, any suggestions on where to tell them to look?

Been reading various threads on the issue and might be the windshield seal? O the cowl?

Hoping this can get resolved and not turn into a horror story...

Anyone else having issues with leaks in the passenger side? I took it to the dealer and they say they can’t find the source, but it’s clearly coming from behind the carpet. Whether it’s through the hood or one of the panels I’m not sure. Dealer says I will have to pay labor in order to pull up carpets to diagnose the leak. Hoping someone has another suggestion!
Same issue for me. 2022 Ford Maverick had water build up under the front passenger seat floor. I'm at 3.5 years of ownership and the dealer is telling me it will cost $1100 to fix because of an improperly installed windshield/cowl which ruined the internal filter and air circulation motor/rusted out internal components. Now i have to pay out of pocket because of a manufacturer defect. Not a happy camper.

I'm having this same issue - according to Serra Ford in Rochester Hills, improper install of windshield/cowl cause lots of water to enter and rusting internal components. Going to cost me $1100...

I would fight this. Its a defect from the manufacturer. I don’t see how you could have caused this with negligence or wear and tear.

I am. I have already reached out to corporate and filed a claim and will be pursuing this as best I can. Almost makes me wonder if there are enough people out there for a class action.

When this happened to me, I feared this would be widespread. I was very lucky to have caught it in the first few days of ownership but knew it would be hard to find unless you were swapping your floor mats. Ugh, i can’t even imagine the smell once mold starts growing.

Well looks like I just discovered I’m having this issue too on my 2022 lariat as of 2 weeks ago. I was having the dealership near me in Seattle do a couple warranty repairs this last friday in addition to the leak issue as my passenger carpet was soaked and starting to mold(never had this problem before). They first thought it was a clogged drain that was causing the water to back up into the truck; but just called and told me they can’t find the source and are recommending me to a water leak specialist but they heavily reference the posts here as the potential cause for it.

See if you can pull the cabin air filter and shine a light up into it. You may be able to see if the plastic cover under the black windshield cowling on the outside is loose. What dealer, if you don't mind me asking?

I’ll be doing this when I get home tonight. The dealership did their best and had the truck for 4 days thinking it was the drain and to have a fan dry the truck out but they said when they got to the drain it wasn’t clogged and couldn’t find the source. It was bill pierre ford near northgate in Seattle. I purchased the vehicle brand new from the ford dealer in Bellevue. Outside of recalls, this is my first issue on the vehicle which is unfortunate since I discovered it by finding the mold under the mat and a soaked carpet.

If it is what I mentioned, here's the procedure for removing the cowling.

You can see the drip pan or whatever it's called at 3:07 all the way on the left.

Brand new 2025 Lariat Hybrid, had it for 2 weeks, left it out of the garage because I wanted to clean the pollen off. Woke up with a large volume of water inside the passengers foot area from the rain, seems like the factory still hasn’t figured this out in 4 years….

I hear ya. I just got back from
Backpacking and the mold is growing back after the dealership and I cleaned it and had a fan in it for 4 days. I’m going to start the convo with ford, cause I’m not looking forward to having to replace the carpet for something that is clearly a defect with the vehicle. First real issue for me outside of recalls for my 22 lariat and unfortunately I’m just over my 36k mile warranty

First I've ever heard of a dealer putting any confidence in info from an online forum. Maybe they're starting to catch on.
